Pie with sauerkraut, bacon and cheese

Original, hearty, very tasty! Impossible to tear yourself away! Pie with sauerkraut, bacon and cheese is incredibly delicious and aromatic. The filling is dense and does not crumble when slicing. This pie would be a great option for a family dinner. Try it too!

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to bake a pie with cabbage? Prepare the ingredients for the dough. Pay special attention to the quality of the yeast. Take the highest grade flour. Sift it through a fine sieve in advance to saturate it with oxygen. Remove the butter from the refrigerator in advance and bring it to room temperature.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

First, dissolve the yeast in warm water in a separate bowl. Let the dough rise for about 15 minutes. You can cook it in a straight method by selecting active yeast, which is added directly to the flour in powder form.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place the softened butter in a bowl and mix with the sifted flour and salt.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Add the yeast mixture to the flour and start kneading the dough in any way convenient for you: spoon, fork, mixer, hands. Focus on the thickness of the dough, not the amount of flour. It should be moderately steep and hold its shape well.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Roll the dough into a ball, cover with a towel and let rest for about half an hour.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Meanwhile, make the filling. Prepare the ingredients for it.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Squeeze the juice from the sauerkraut. And cut the bacon into small pieces. You can use straws.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Peel the onions and chop finely. Cut the leeks into pieces about 1cm long.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Heat a frying pan with butter and fry all the chopped onions for about 2 minutes.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Add squeezed sauerkraut to the onions. Pour in a small amount of water and simmer the resulting mass for about a quarter of an hour, stirring from time to time. Make the heat a little lower than medium. If it starts to burn, reduce to low.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Separately, fry the bacon in a frying pan.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Beat raw chicken eggs into a bowl and mix with sour cream until smooth.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

    Grate hard cheese.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

Combine cooled stewed sauerkraut with grated cheese, a mixture of eggs and sour cream, and fried bacon. Stir.

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

Place the dough rolled out into a round layer into a prepared and greased pan, leaving sides about five centimeters high. Cover the pan with a towel and leave the dough to rise for another quarter of an hour.

  16. STEP 16

    STEP 16

Then prick the dough with a fork in different places. Spread the finished filling evenly over the dough and fill to the top. You can make the sides more beautiful and curly.

  17. STEP 17

    STEP 17

Bake the pie in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for at least 40 minutes. Depending on the time, use your oven. It may take you less or more time than me. Check the pie!

  18. STEP 18

    STEP 18

The finished pie with sauerkraut must be left to cool before eating.

  19. STEP 19

    STEP 19

Delicious pie with sauerkraut is ready! The dough turns out soft and airy.

  20. STEP 20

    STEP 20

    Bon appetit everyone!

Oh, this is purely in Russian! It must be very tasty, bacon with sauerkraut in the pie - it will be so saturated with juice, and the kupustka will smell like bacon, that when you bite off the first piece, you will have a burning appetite and the pie will melt before your eyes! This is my favorite taste, I adore Russian pies!

Nata, thanks for the recipe! I’m posting step-by-step photos for everyone who likes to watch the cooking process. Very tasty pie, I like sauerkraut and this pie recipe. You can adjust the ingredients, I didn’t have bacon, but I did have ham, smoked sausage is also suitable - it’s up to your taste. And for those who just want a vegetable pie, you can remove the meat component. The dough turns out soft and airy. You will love this pie!

The recipe for Pie with Sauerkraut is simple, quick, but very tasty. The dough is thin, there is a lot of filling, but at the same time it is absolutely not wet. Juicy, aromatic, satisfying!!! The ingredients are simple and affordable. Thank you very much!
