In Russia and the countries of the former CIS, leeks are grown everywhere. Leeks differ from regular onions in their distinct aroma, softer, more delicate taste, without bitterness. It can be consumed stewed, fried, or raw. Often the white part of the stem is used for cooking. The green part is used when preparing pureed soup to give it a beautiful greenish tint. Leeks are used in the preparation of soups, side dishes, meat and mushroom casseroles, in general, in almost half of what we usually prepare at home. Pairs well with almost all types of meat and fish. Leeks add juiciness and flavor to dishes. There are also quite a few recipes for leeks as an independent product. Leek pie is also very tasty.
