Step-by-step preparation

Cooking timeCooking time: 1 hr
  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make jellied pie with egg and green onions on kefir? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Boil the eggs for the filling first.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

How to boil eggs? Wash them, put them in a saucepan and cover with cold water. This is necessary so that the shell does not burst during cooking due to temperature differences. Boil the eggs for 9-10 minutes after boiling over low heat. There is no need to cook the eggs longer, as the texture may become rubbery and an unappetizing blue rim will appear around the yolk. Pour cold water over the eggs, then peel and grate on a coarse grater.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Sort the green onions, remove all the yellow, wilted feathers, they will spoil the taste of the finished dish. Rinse the onion under cold water and pat dry. Use a sharp knife to cut the onion so it doesn't get bruised and turn into mush. Place it in a bowl with the grated eggs.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Salt the onion and egg and mix gently. This will be the filling for the pie.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Prepare the jellied dough. How to make the dough? Wash the egg and break it into a bowl, add salt and beat a little with a fork until the salt dissolves. There is no need to beat until fluffy, you just need to get a homogeneous mass.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Pour fresh kefir into another bowl, add the beaten egg and stir until smooth. Instead of kefir, you can take yogurt or liquid sour cream.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Through a fine sieve, sift wheat flour and baking powder into the liquid ingredients. At the same time, the flour will be saturated with oxygen and the cake will turn out more airy. Flour of the highest or first grade is suitable for the pie.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Add salt and mix everything thoroughly until the dough is homogeneous. It should turn out like sour cream. If the dough is too thick, add a little more kefir to the desired consistency.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Grease a thick-walled baking dish (mine is 12*20 cm) with vegetable oil and sprinkle with flour or semolina. This will allow you to remove the finished pie without any obstacles. Pour 2/3 of the dough into the mold and smooth it out.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Spread the egg and onion filling on top in an even layer.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Pour the remaining batter over the filling and smooth it out until it is completely covered. Sprinkle the top with sesame seeds.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Place the pie pan in the hot oven and bake it for 40 minutes at 180°C until done. The top should become golden brown and spring back when you press on the surface, not ripple. You can also check readiness using a wooden skewer. If you pierce the cake with it and then remove it, it should come out dry.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Remove the pie from the oven, let cool slightly, cut and serve with milk, sweet tea or coffee.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

    Bon appetit!

These jellied pies are great for dinner. Quickly and without problems. I bake a similar pie, but the filling is made from cabbage, boiled eggs and onions.

I added cheese because I was looking for something to use it for, but it turned out to be unnecessary. Without it the taste would be different. My oven baked the pie for almost 1.5 hours 🙈 Next time I’ll make it with mushrooms and chicken. Thanks for the recipe!

Your pie turned out so delicious!!! I love pies with onions and eggs, but I haven’t made aspic yet, apparently it’s time to bake this golden beauty. Decorating with sesame seeds is also a very interesting solution. Thanks for the recipe.

Dear author of the recipe, everything seems to be fine, I’m preparing it now, but the dough is too little, I doubled the number of ingredients and still barely had enough to fill, the onion is sticking out at the top, well, it’s actually a minuscule thing you have there, although in the photo such a plump pie, where did that come from??
