  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make a meat pie from pita bread with minced meat and cheese in the oven? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Choose fresh pita bread. It should have a pleasant smell. Look carefully to make sure there are no stains or signs of mold. Tomatoes can be replaced with ketchup, tomatoes in their own juice or tomato paste. Choose proportions to suit your taste. I took frozen tomatoes and dill - it turned out delicious. Choose cheese that melts well.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Peel the onion, rinse and cut into small cubes. This way it will cook quickly and the filling will be more uniform. Transfer the onion to a frying pan preheated over medium heat with a small amount of vegetable oil. Fry over high heat until golden brown.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Then add the minced meat to the onion and continue to fry, stirring constantly so that the minced meat pieces do not stick to each other.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Fry until the minced meat changes color from pink to gray - you don’t need to fry too much for the filling to be juicy. Season with pepper and salt to taste, remove from heat and cool until warm.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

While the filling is cooling, prepare the pita bread. Unwrap the pita bread and spread it evenly with a thin layer of mayonnaise.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Wash the tomatoes, remove the stem and cut into rings. Evenly distribute the minced meat filling with onions and tomatoes over the surface of the pita bread.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Grate the cheese on a coarse or medium grater. Leave half the cheese for filling (step 11). Remove the wilted leaves from the dill, rinse and finely chop. Then spread the cheese and dill evenly over the pita bread.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Roll the pita bread along the long side into a roll. Do the same (steps 5,6 and 7) with the second pita bread.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Next, try on how it will be more convenient for you to place the pita bread in a baking dish. I used a rectangular shape of approximately 20x30 cm with a side height of 5 cm. The height fit a lavash roll, rolled lengthwise. And I cut each of the two rolls in half. Place the rolls in a pan greased with vegetable oil.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Wash the eggs and wipe with a dry towel. Beat them until light foam appears.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Add cheese and sour cream, mix well.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Pour the resulting filling over the lavash rolls and distribute evenly.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Bake in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for about 15 minutes on top-bottom mode until golden brown. Select the exact time and temperature according to your oven. If you want to decorate the pie like I did, 5 minutes before it’s ready, remove it from the oven and place vegetables, such as tomatoes, on top. Then return to the oven for a few more minutes.

A very interesting recipe. I thought that the pita bread would just be smeared with something and baked, but it turned out that there were also rolls - great!

When baked, pita bread with such a filling becomes very soft and tender. This recipe is suitable for those who don’t want to bother with the dough: roll the filling into these rolls, put them in the oven for 20 minutes and you’re done.

Thank you for the recipe for this wonderful pie! It's a celebration of the belly! I used not only minced meat as a filling, but also mushroom filling (I put a different filling in each pita bread). I stacked the rolls alternately. You can't tell by the taste that it's lavash. Sooooo tasty! Try it, you will definitely like it!
