STEP 1
How to bake a Greek layer cake in the oven? First, prepare all the necessary ingredients for the filling. Grate the cheese and hard cheese on a coarse grater. Read the separate article at the end of the recipe for how to replace different types of cheese. Peel the onions and cut into small cubes. Wash and chop the green onions and parsley - first cut off the stems of the parsley.
STEP 2
Wash the eggs using food detergent and beat them into a small bowl. Beat the eggs with a fork.
STEP 3
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan, at the same time add chopped onion and minced meat, add salt and spices to taste. Simmer over moderate heat, stirring, until the liquid evaporates - about 15 minutes. Taste the minced meat and add salt and spices if necessary. Cool the minced meat slightly.
STEP 4
Mix all the ingredients for the filling in a convenient deep bowl: minced meat, cheese, hard cheese and herbs. Pour in the egg mixture, leaving a little for brushing the pie. If necessary, you can add salt and spices, keep in mind that the minced meat and cheeses are already salted.
STEP 5
Thaw the dough at room temperature. I have a package weighing 1 kg, which I divided into 2 parts and took one half of the dough. I divided the cut layer into 2 more parts, since we will need two sheets. Roll out the dough into a rectangle measuring approximately 23 by 30 centimeters. I rolled it out on a silicone mat and did not sprinkle it with flour. Roll out the second piece of dough in the same way. Below the steps you will find a link to homemade puff pastry recipes.
STEP 6
Line a baking tray with baking paper and cut a piece of suitable size. Brush the base with melted butter and lightly sprinkle with flour to prevent the dough from sticking. Lay out one sheet of dough.
STEP 7
Place the filling on the dough, leaving the edges untouched.
STEP 8
Top with a second sheet of dough and seal the edges tightly.
STEP 9
Brush the workpiece with the reserved egg mixture and make random punctures with a fork in several places to allow steam to escape.
STEP 10
Bake the pie in the oven at 180 C for about 30 minutes until golden brown and completely cooked. Time and temperature are approximate, be guided by the operating characteristics of your equipment. Read more about ovens in a separate article at the end of the recipe.
