Sour cream manna

This recipe will definitely take root in your kitchen! Mannik with sour cream is a dish of Russian cuisine, originally from Siberia. The manna has helped me out more than once when guests unexpectedly appeared. In addition, it is prepared from familiar products, which are almost always available in any home where they prepare food themselves, and do not order it from the nearest restaurant. I looked through all the options for manna that I found online and in printed cookbooks and chose the one that gives a consistent result and is the easiest to prepare - “Siberian manna.”

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

    Ingredients

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

First, break three eggs into a bowl, grind them, adding salt (just a little).

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Gradually add semolina and grind until the semolina, swelling, increases the mixture slightly in volume,

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

You will have to stir for about 5 minutes. The mass will turn white.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Then gradually, kneading with a whisk or mixer, add sugar. The sugar must disperse in the mixture so that it becomes homogeneous.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Then gradually add in the flour and stir thoroughly. The dough turns out to be very viscous and thick. We continue to beat it with a mixer.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

And add sour cream without stopping the mixer. The sour cream should be thick, but fluid, very fresh, not “standing”, like they sell in plastic. It's better to buy one on the market.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Stop beating when the dough is smooth and thick like for pancakes. At this very moment, we stop adding sour cream. After this, grease the prepared pan with oil.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Then quench the soda with vinegar and quickly pour this sizzling mass into the dough, mix for 3 seconds

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

And immediately pour the dough into a mold with high walls.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Place in a heated oven. For me, at 180 degrees in the “convection” mode, the manna cooks for 20-25 minutes. In a conventional oven, baking can take from 50 minutes to an hour or a little more.

Gera, thank you very much for the delicious manna recipe! To be honest, I was a little afraid to cook it, because I usually pour sour cream, kefir or milk over semolina and leave for about an hour, but here sour cream had to be added at the very end, I was afraid that nothing good would come of it, but the result was excellent all my expectations! The mannik turned out to be tall, fluffy, moderately “wet” and very tender! I frosted the top with cocoa frosting. The most important thing is that it took a little time to prepare: about 5 minutes to knead the dough and 20 minutes to bake! Great!
