  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to bake manna in the oven with sour cream? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Use sour cream of medium thickness, with a fat content of 15 to 25%. Sour cream needs to be at room temperature, so remove it from the refrigerator in advance. Eggs need large, selected and fresh. You can replace apple cider vinegar with regular table vinegar (9%). Or even replace the soda and vinegar with 1 tsp. baking powder. Use the highest quality flour.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Place sour cream in a bowl and add semolina. Mix everything thoroughly until smooth and leave the mixture for 30 minutes so that the cereal swells. If your sour cream is not very wet and is difficult to mix with semolina, then you can add 2-3 tbsp. l. milk.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Combine eggs with sugar and beat with a mixer until fluffy. There is no need to beat for a long time so as not to overbeat the eggs, because you will need to beat even after adding the remaining ingredients. Many small air bubbles will appear on the surface of a properly beaten mass.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Add the swollen sour cream-semolina mixture to the eggs beaten with sugar and mix.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Add the sifted flour and baking soda and mix again until smooth with a mixer at low speed or with a spoon.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Pour in vinegar. It is very important to properly quench the soda with vinegar - this must be done in the dough itself, not in a spoon, as we are used to doing, otherwise the entire reaction with the release of carbon dioxide will take place outside the dough and there will be little meaning from it.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Mix the dough quickly. If everything is done correctly, bubbles will appear in the dough, indicating a reaction of soda with vinegar.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Pour the finished dough into a baking dish greased and sprinkled with semolina. The diameter of my mold is 18 cm. A larger mold is also suitable - 20-22 cm. Place the manna in an oven preheated to 180°C for about 40 minutes. Refer to the timing of your oven. If the manna is browned on top, but the inside is not yet ready, cover the surface with a double layer of foil.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Remove the finished manna from the oven, cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar and cut into pieces if desired. Serve manna with condensed milk, jam, or sweet sauce. Bon appetit!

I usually bake manna with kefir and I like the result, now I’ll try it with sour cream.

Masha, the recipe is wonderful! It's easy and quick to prepare. The dough is like a cake, just as porous and crumbly, a little moist. The taste is delicate, with a creamy aftertaste, so much sour cream. It was because of the sour cream that I made changes to the amount of soda, reduced it to 0.5 tsp, this is quite enough for a glass of sour cream. There was no need to add vinegar, because the soda would be extinguished by the sour sour cream, which would not have time for the temperature to finish. But I bought fresh sour cream, it was not sour enough yet, so I added apple cider vinegar. I just added it to the liquid ingredients in step 3, then follow the recipe. I baked it in a silicone mold d 22 cm, at 190', took 40 minutes and stood in the switched off oven for another 10 minutes. I didn't even have to cover it with foil. I let it cool in the mold and the manna came out easily. This is such a handsome guy! Thanks for the recipe, I took it to KK!

I prepared manna without sugar, adding a little syrup substitute. I didn’t quench the soda with vinegar. Cooked in the oven for 35 minutes and stood for 15 more. The taste is light, slightly crumbly and slightly moist. I also added orange zest and vanilla. And there were two types of sour cream, 15% leftovers. But it was fresh and thick, so I had to add a little warmed milk. The recipe is not complicated, anyone can make it!

The manna with sour cream turned out great, fluffy in the oven, I didn’t deviate from the recipe. I only kept it in the oven for about 10 minutes longer, but that’s a little weak for me.

Maria, thank you for the recipe, I also added raisins and a little lemon zest... It turned out very well, I think I needed a little less flour, the consistency was a bit dense.

Great recipe, thank you! I made both the classic version (in a muffin tin) and mini muffins for breakfast.
