STEP 1

How to make crumpets with sour cream? Prepare all the necessary products. You can use homemade sour cream or store-bought sour cream - thick and of good quality. Remember that sour cream comes in different fat contents, so you will need to adjust the consistency of the dough with the amount of flour. The dough should be quite dense.
STEP 2

You will need a deep plate into which to break raw eggs. It is better to stir them using a whisk or mixer. Add a little salt, sugar and stir until smooth.
STEP 3

Then put thick sour cream in the same container and stir with eggs.
STEP 4

Sift 2/3 of the flour together with baking powder and separately the rest of the flour according to the recipe. Please note that you may need a little less or more flour, check the consistency of the dough. Now add the flour and baking powder into the liquid, stir until smooth. Gradually add the rest of the flour. When the dough becomes thick and it is inconvenient to mix it with a spoon, you need to transfer the mixture to a cutting board sprinkled with flour.
STEP 5

Knead the dough with your hands. It should be soft, but form a ball. Please note that you don’t need to knead for long (dough with baking powder doesn’t like this), otherwise the donuts will come out rubbery. Now take a rolling pin, sprinkle it with flour and roll out the dough into a layer 1 cm thick. Cut out circles with a diameter of 5-6 cm, it is convenient to cut them with a large glass.
STEP 6

Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan and heat well. Place a few slices into hot oil. Fry the crumpets on both sides until golden brown, turning the pieces over with a spatula.
STEP 7

Place the finished donuts on a plate. They are not greasy, so there is no need to place them on a paper towel. Warm donuts can be sprinkled with powdered sugar. Serve your fresh baked goods with a hot or cold drink. Bon appetit!
