STEP 1
How to make a salad with beef liver and onions? First, prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. I used beef liver, but you can replace it with pork, chicken or turkey. You can add or replace the vegetable part to your liking. You can replace red onions with regular onions. The same goes for spices.
STEP 2
Rinse the liver thoroughly until the water becomes clear, remove fatty layers and remaining bile. Unremoved bile will give the liver bitterness. Cut the liver into small pieces. You can take fresh or frozen liver. The frozen product must first be defrosted on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator.
STEP 3
Peel the bell pepper from seeds and stems and cut into strips.
STEP 4
Peel the red onion and cut into half rings.
STEP 5
Wash the lettuce leaves and dry them. You can take a ready-made store-bought mixture of lettuce leaves or make your own from the greens that you have. My mixture consists of Iceberg, Romano and Radiccio lettuce.
STEP 6
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Place the liver and fry, stirring, on all sides for 5-8 minutes until cooked. The exact frying time depends on the size of the pieces and the heat of the pan. It is important not to overcook the liver. There should be no blood left inside, but the liver itself should remain soft. Finally, salt and pepper the liver.
STEP 7
In a bowl, combine fried liver, bell pepper, onion and lettuce. Transfer the salad with beef liver and onions to a plate and serve with mayonnaise. Bon appetit!
