Stewed cabbage with potatoes
You can stew cabbage and potatoes in a deep saucepan, in a frying pan, in a clay pot, or in a slow cooker. Otherwise, the cooking process will look almost the same.
All vegetables that go into the dish, both main and additional (chosen by you or a specific recipe), are peeled and cut into the desired pieces. In strips, cubes or something else.
Lightly mash the cabbage with your hands and fry in oil. Then simmer under the lid. It is advisable to do this in a large saucepan with a thick bottom. Because this is a “one-pot” dish.
Add onion. And other vegetables, a list of which is given below. Simmer for about five minutes.
Add potatoes. Pour in some water. Cover with a lid and simmer until done.
Five minutes before the end, add tomato paste (you can skip this step), salt and spices.
The dish is ready. Serve hot on its own or as a side dish.
To stewed cabbage with potatoes, in addition to the obligatory onions, add carrots, zucchini (and all its varieties), bell peppers, mushrooms, rice, meat, chicken, sausages, sausages, canned corn and peas, and green beans.
