Rice with cabbage and minced meat
To quickly prepare this dish for dinner, you will need a deep frying pan (a saucepan just right or a cauldron), main products, and additional ones of your choice.
Basic: rice, cabbage, minced meat, onions, garlic, salt, spices.
Additional: carrots, tomato paste, sour cream, ready-made sauce (any), zucchini, pumpkin, a set of vegetables in frozen mixtures, mushrooms, pickled legumes, and so on.
First, finely chopped onions, garlic and carrots are sautéed in heated vegetable oil. Then thinly shredded cabbage is added to them. When it is slightly stewed, add tomato paste. At this time, intensive release of juice begins - just stand and stir.
As soon as the cabbage changes its color and becomes softer, add minced meat. Everything is stewed stirred until the color of the meat changes.
Now raw and well-washed rice is placed in the dish (in the East it is washed in five waters). Everything is poured with boiling water to the level of the food. Simmer for about twenty minutes. Add salt and spices to taste.
There is probably no faster cooking method. The whole thing takes about one hour, give or take. With a slow cooker, this time can be reduced a little more. Or with a pressure cooker, especially if you simmer everything under a screwed lid.
There are recipes for rice with cabbage and minced meat, in which the products are fried separately from each other and then mixed. But apart from the large time investment, this method is not justified in any way - the taste does not get better (or worse). Maybe there will be more dirty dishes in the kitchen.
The dish also bakes wonderfully in the oven. If everything is done correctly, it can be served by cutting it into portions like a casserole. In this case, it is permissible to add a raw beaten egg, grated cheese or mashed raw potatoes to the vegetable-meat mass. This will help keep the food in shape. All this is in harmony with any sweet and sour sauce, which is served separately.
