Cabbage cake Lazy cabbage roll

The very, very, very lazy cabbage roll!!! Today I propose to prepare lazy cabbage rolls in the form of a cabbage cake, using young white cabbage. If you are expecting guests, then I recommend using Savoy cabbage; it makes the cabbage cake look even brighter and more attractive.

Boil water in a large saucepan. Drop the cabbage leaves into boiling water in small batches and boil them for a couple of minutes until they become soft. Transfer the boiled cabbage leaves to a dish and let them cool.

At this time, boil the rice, adding a little salt to the water.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Place the minced pork in a heated frying pan and lightly fry it in vegetable oil. At the end of cooking, add salt and pepper to the minced meat. Transfer the finished minced meat into a deep bowl.

  5. STEP 5

In the same frying pan where the minced meat was fried, lightly fry the diced onion and pressed garlic.

Then add grated carrots to the pan and continue frying.

  7. STEP 7

Next, add the diced tomatoes, stir and let the vegetables simmer a little in the juice formed from the tomatoes.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Season the stewed vegetables with tomato paste, add salt and heat in a frying pan for another 2-3 minutes.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Take a deep bowl with fried minced meat, add boiled rice, add vegetables from the frying pan to the minced meat with rice, beat in the egg and thoroughly mix the meat filling until smooth.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Take a cake pan with a diameter of 26 cm. Place the largest and most beautiful boiled cabbage leaves on the bottom and sides of this pan, since when serving they will be the “front” side of the cake.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Place 1/3 of the meat filling on the cabbage leaves and distribute it evenly along the bottom of the pan. Cover the first meat layer with several leaves of cabbage and add the filling again, etc. You should have 3 layers of meat filling.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Cover the final layer of filling with cabbage leaves, bend the side leaves, directing them towards the center. Season the top of the cake with salt and pepper and lightly brush with olive oil using a pastry brush.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Bake cabbage cake “Lazy cabbage roll” in an oven preheated to 180°C for 40 minutes. When the cabbage cake is ready, remove it from the oven, let it cool slightly, cover with a large dish, turn it over and remove the pan. Decorate the top of the cabbage cake with herbs and tomatoes.
