Dishes with black currants
Black currant is one of the healthiest and most popular berries growing in our latitudes, because it is the leader in ascorbic acid content. Therefore, it is prepared for the winter: ground with sugar, made into jam, frozen or dried. Properly prepared currants can be stored for a long time without losing their beneficial properties; they are easy to use when you need to prepare cocktails and fruit drinks, add them to sour cream and yoghurts, make jam for a pie, a decoration for dessert, jelly and marshmallows. There are also more rare recipes for dishes with blackcurrants, for example, sweet sauces. The aromatic, tart berry effectively complements meat, which is why sauces based on it are appreciated by European restaurant critics. Wines, liqueurs and liqueurs made from it have a noble color and rich aroma, and their taste is superior to store-bought drinks. But blackcurrant wine is insidious - it “hides” the degree and is easy to drink, so you need to be careful when drinking it. Its leaves are also used in cooking, most often for pickling as a spice. Young leaves are added to salads and used to flavor kvass. Dry and withered leaves are used in vitamin preparations along with rose hips.
