  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make compote from cherries and currants for the winter? Prepare the necessary ingredients for this. Currants can be used both black and red. Or you can take both. I find the black one more flavorful, so I will use that one. Sort cherries and currants from twigs and leaves and rinse well to remove dirt. There is no need to remove pits from cherries.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

I make compote for two liter jars. Wash the compote jars well and sterilize them in any way convenient for you. This can be done in the microwave, in the oven, or over hot steam. Boil the lids for a minute in boiling water.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Pour water into a saucepan and place on fire. Bring to a boil. Then add sugar. If the berries are sour, you can add more sugar.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Place washed cherries and currants in boiling syrup. Bring everything back to a boil. Boil for a couple of minutes and pour the boiling compote into sterile jars. Close with prepared sterile caps. By the way, the quantity and proportions of berries can be changed to your taste. You can take many more berries so that they fill the entire jar. But in this case, you will need a little less water.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Cherry and currant compote is ready! Turn the jars over, wrap them in a blanket and leave until completely cool. Then the compote can be stored in a cool place, for example, in a basement or cellar. Enjoy your meal!

I started eating cherries and immediately wanted a delicious berry compote. After searching on my favorite website, I found a recipe for making cherry and currant compote. I decided to cook compote in a saucepan. I picked fresh berries, sorted them out, washed them, put them in a bowl, added sugar and water. After boiling, I cooked for about 5 minutes. Then I strained the hot compote through a sieve into jars. I do this because my child doesn’t like berries in drinks yet. And of course, I left it for testing, pouring it into glasses. The color of the cherry and currant compote is extraordinary, rich and bright. And the taste is simply amazing, it turned out cherry with a hint of currant. According to the amount of ingredients specified in the recipe, the compote turns out to be not very sweet, but not sour either, but just perfect! Very aromatic drink and mega tasty! I advise everyone to try it! Thanks to the author!

A bright compote of cherries and currants will come in handy in winter! It turned out bright and aromatic, with vitamins that are so necessary for the body during the cold season. I think the proportions of berries can be changed, for example, take more cherries and less currants, or vice versa. I didn’t even fill the jars halfway, I only added to cover the bottom and look what color it turned out! Thanks for the recipe!
