  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make apple and currant compote for the winter? Prepare the necessary ingredients for this. The proportions for compote are approximate. You can take a little more or less apples and berries. Take ripe apples. They can be anything you like. The more sour the apples, the more sugar you need to put in the compote. My apples are sweet, with a slight sourness. Sort the currant berries from the leaves and twigs.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Rinse the apples thoroughly to remove dirt and place them on a towel to soak up excess water. Rinse the currants in cold water and place in a colander to drain all the water.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Remove the core from the apples and cut out any defective areas, if any.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Wash the compote jars with detergent and rinse thoroughly several times in running water. Place the chopped apples and currants into prepared jars. By the way, you can use not only black currants, but also red ones. Or both together.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Separately, bring the water to a boil and fill the jars with boiling water to the top. Cover with lids and leave to stand for 15 minutes.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Then drain the berry infusion from the jars into a separate bowl. Add sugar to it. Place on the fire and bring to a boil. stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Boil for a minute.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Fill the jars again with boiling syrup to the very top. Close with sterile lids (they can be boiled for a couple of minutes in advance). Turn the jars over and check for leaks. Then wrap it in a blanket and leave it to cool. Store the cooled compote in the cellar or basement. Happy winter treat!

An excellent combination of black currants and apples in compote. The child picked blackcurrant berries and asked to make a compote) I made a compote of apples and currants for the winter according to this recipe. Very easy drink preparation. I cut the apples and added fresh currants to the boiling water. On the author’s advice, I boiled it for 5 minutes and added 200 g of sugar per 3 liters of water, since apples and black currants are sour. I tried it and liked it. I boiled it for about 7 minutes and left the compote to steep under the lid for about 15 minutes. Then I strained it. I rolled up jars of apple and currant compote for the winter, and also left it for the child, who immediately drank two glasses) The compote has an amazing aroma, the color is very attractive and rich, and the taste is amazing. Everything in moderation, not sour, not cloying, very tasty! I recommend trying this combination! Thanks to the author!
