Five-minute apricot jam
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make apricot jam for the winter in five minutes? Prepare the indicated ingredients. Choose apricots that are ripe, but not falling apart. They are sweet, aromatic and delicious. Make sure the fruits are undamaged. Wash the apricots well in running water and place in a colander to drain or dry them with napkins or paper towels.
STEP 2
Divide each apricot into two halves and remove the pit. You can leave the apricots in halves, or you can cut each half in half. I cut it into quarters. Place the chopped apricots in an enamel or glass pan. You cannot use aluminum utensils, as the metal will react with fruit juice and harmful chemical compounds will be released into the jam.
STEP 3
Fill the chopped apricots with sugar and shake the pan a little so that the sugar is distributed as evenly as possible. You don’t need to add all the sugar at once; take a little more than half of the specified amount. The rest of the sugar can be added later. Cover the apricots with sugar with a lid or towel and leave for several hours so that they release the juice. I usually leave it overnight.
STEP 4
After a few hours, a lot of juice will appear. Now put the pan on the fire and bring everything together to a boil. Taste it. If the sweetness is not enough, you can add more sugar.
STEP 5
Boil the apricots for 5 minutes over low heat. If foam forms during cooking, it must be removed. Since dirt from sugar and unwashed fruits collects in the foam, it can reduce the shelf life of the jam and significantly deteriorate its taste and color. Despite the fact that the jam is cooked for only 5 minutes, the apricots have time to boil a little.
STEP 6
For jam, prepare jars of suitable size. Wash them well in running water with baking soda. Place the jars turned upside down in a cold oven, turn it on at 150 degrees and sterilize 0.5 liter jars at this temperature for 10 minutes, 1 liter for 15 minutes. You can also do this in the microwave or over hot steam. Just pour boiling water over the lids.
STEP 7
Pour hot jam into prepared dishes and cover with lids. Turn the jar over and check for leaks. Wrap the inverted jars in a warm blanket and leave until completely cool. Why wrap yourself in a warm blanket? When wrapped, the jam remains hot for a long time, which means it will continue to cook as it cools. During this time it will become even thicker and tastier.
STEP 8
Store cooled jars of jam in a cool place. Have a nice winter tea party!
