Suitable for a holiday table. Unusual taste. The filling is simply fantastic! The pie is tall, appetizing, big) I always like the combination of tender and crispy textures in baking! I highly recommend this recipe for all cottage cheese lovers!

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

My dad served in Germany in his youth. It was there that he tried this most delicate pie for the first time! And now, 30 years later, I decided to resume his memories of army life. The pie resembles a royal cheesecake, but its filling is richer and more interesting. I suggest you try this masterpiece. And so let's get started. First, let's prepare all the ingredients. Place the butter for the dough in the freezer in advance. For about 15 minutes.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Sift the flour. Add sugar, salt and soda. Mix everything. Add grated butter, frozen in advance, to the flour. With dry hands, rub everything into crumbs. Place in the refrigerator while the filling is prepared.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Let's start filling. Pour milk, butter and sugar into a saucepan. Over low heat, stirring, bring to a boil.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Add poppy seeds to the milk mass, and stirring gently, add semolina. Mix everything thoroughly, cover with a lid and let sit for 10 minutes.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

While the poppy-milk mixture is infused, we use a blender (if you don’t have one, you can use a mixer) to mix the cottage cheese and egg well. Add to the poppy-milk mixture and mix thoroughly.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

The filling is ready! Let's start laying out the dough!

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Grease a mold (mine is 28 cm) with butter. Place 2/3 of the dough on the bottom and sides. We put our filling on the dough.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Pour the remaining dough on top and smooth it out.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Place our pie in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for about 1 hour.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Ruddy, appetizing and with an incredible smell!!! Our pie is ready! Let it cool COMPLETELY! FULLY! And enjoy...bon appetit!

Hello! First of all, I want to say thank you very much for the recipe! Let me tell you right away that this was the first time I cooked something like this, the filling turned out to be too much for my pan, I baked it longer - 1.5 hours to get it done. I have a lot of poppy seeds at home, so I decided to bake something. Your recipe was the very first one I came across. I did everything as in the recipe, observing all the proportions. The pie turned out delicious, my husband really liked it. The filling is tender, the dough is crumbly, melts in your mouth. I'm not a fan of poppy seeds myself, but I really liked it with tea. The pie is best eaten cold; warm it is not as tasty.
