  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to bake puff pastry fish pie in the oven? Prepare everything you need. Any fish is suitable, but preferably not very bony or already prepared fillet. I have red fish, Loach, it is not dry, but not greasy either. Do not defrost the fish completely, this will make it easier to gut it. Rinse and steam for 8-10 minutes. Read about defrosting at the end of the recipe. Boil the eggs hard for 11-12 minutes from boiling and cool in cold water, so they can be easily peeled.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Frozen dough can be thawed without opening the package by placing it in the refrigerator overnight. Or at room temperature, then open the package, after a while separate the layers and place them between two napkins in one row. This way the dough will not become wet and dry. Roll out the defrosted dough a little in one direction so as not to disturb the layers. You can learn how to make puff pastry yourself by following the link at the end of this recipe.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

How to make pie filling? Using a coarse grater, grind the eggs and cheese into different bowls, add mayonnaise to each bowl and mix. Clean the fish from skin and bones, disassemble into small fragments. Peel the onion, chop finely and fry until transparent, add the carrots and fry until almost done. Add salt and pepper now or while the cake is forming. Just keep in mind that mayonnaise, cheese and sauce already contain salt.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Take a slightly rolled out piece of dough. Visually divide it into three equal parts and make slightly oblique cuts along the edges with a sharp knife. Apply tomato sauce or ketchup in the center with a brush.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Then place a layer of eggs and pieces of fish on it. If you haven't added salt and spices before, do it now.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Cover the fish with a layer of vegetables, and sprinkle with a final layer of cheese and mayonnaise. You can prepare mayonnaise yourself; under the steps you will find a link to a catalog of recipes for homemade mayonnaise. Close the filling by braiding a simple braid from the strips, bend the last one inward. You can twist the strips on one side by 2 or 3 turns, it will also look interesting.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Cover a baking sheet with parchment or a mat and carefully transfer the finished pie. Quickly prepare the second one in the same way, or make both pies at the same time, as is convenient. Cover the pies with film and leave to rest for 15-18 minutes. Then scramble the yolk or whole egg and brush the top of the cake with a silicone brush.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 25 minutes, until beautifully golden brown. Time and temperature are approximate. Read more about ovens in the article at the end of this recipe. Cover the finished puff pastry fish pies directly on the baking sheet with a towel and let them cool slightly. After 10 minutes you can serve. They will be delicious both hot and cold. If from the refrigerator, it is better to warm it up.
