Forshmak with herring and beef

It is quickly eaten and has a beautiful name - this is mincemeat! Once at a restaurant, an acquaintance ordered mincemeat. At first I liked the name, but after I tried this unusual food for us and the snack itself did not leave me indifferent. Finding out the recipe was not difficult, and I am happy to share it with you.

I don’t quite understand the recipe - bake until done - done what? the potatoes are already cooked, the meat too, everything is twisted and, as I understand it, it looks like a kind of paste. To what degree of doneness should it be baked? to brown it a little? or what should the finished dish look like? I’ve heard this name for a long time, it would be interesting to cook, but I’m afraid to spoil the recipe

Fiesta, it won't take long to bake it. As soon as a pleasant aroma comes out of the oven and the mincemeat itself is browned on top, it is ready. I don’t time it, I do everything by eye, so I can’t say how long it will take. Maybe 20 minutes.

I’ve never tried mixing herring and meat. I need to get going and cook it, and see and try what happens. I'll try to make it this weekend

Jewish forshmak is made from young herring. I have an apple, walnuts, what does meat have to do with it? Nonsense

Raya, you are wrong! read the definition of forshmak: Forshmak (German: Vorschmack - “snack”[1]) is a dish of minced meat or herring baked with potatoes, sour cream, onions and peppers, classified as appetizers.
