Cod fish soup is the most delicious
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1

How to cook the most delicious cod fish soup? Prepare your food. Take cod in any form - whole fish, steaks or fillets. If you have frozen fish, then defrost it first by transferring it from the freezer to the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. Read about all the intricacies of proper defrosting in a separate article, link at the end of the recipe. Wash and peel the vegetables. Wash and dry the dill.
STEP 2

Cut the cod (if you have a whole carcass) into pieces. Salt and pepper them. Leave the fish to lie there for 10 minutes.
STEP 3

Cut the onion into thin feathers.
STEP 4

Cut the carrots into slices if they are thin, or into smaller pieces if they are large. You can also grate carrots.
STEP 5

Cut the potatoes into large cubes.
STEP 6

Tomatoes - into pieces or halves if you have cherry tomatoes.
STEP 7

Also cut the pickled fish into pieces, first cutting off the skin and removing the bones. Bring water (about 2 liters) to boil in a kettle or saucepan.
STEP 8

Take a saucepan with a thick bottom and place it on low heat. The article on saucepans, link at the end of the recipe, will help you choose the ideal soup pot. Melt a piece of butter in it. Place onions in it. Fry the onion, stirring, for a couple of minutes until translucent. Add carrots to onions. Fry the vegetables for a few more minutes over low heat. You can do the frying in a frying pan, but I prefer the pan option.
STEP 9

Add the potatoes to the pan and pour freshly boiled water over all the ingredients. Add salt and peppercorns. Wait until it boils, skim off the foam and cover the pan with a lid. Cook the soup for 15 minutes over low heat.
STEP 10

Then add cod pieces to the soup. Light and immediately extinguish the bay leaf. While it is still smoldering, dip it into the broth - this way you will give the soup a slight taste of fish soup cooked over a fire. Cook the fish soup for another 15 minutes.
STEP 11

Then add tomatoes and dill to the soup. Boil it for another 5 minutes, then turn off the heat and cover the pan with a lid. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
STEP 12

Serve the fish soup to the table. Bon appetit!
