  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make meatballs with rice and gravy? Very simple! To begin, prepare the ingredients according to the list. You can use any minced meat: pork, beef, or a mixture of pork and beef, like mine. In addition to salt and pepper, you can add your own spices to taste.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Rinse the rice thoroughly. Boil in boiling salted water until half cooked for about 10 minutes, remembering to stir occasionally. Then drain the rice into a sieve and cool.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Peel the onion and cut into small cubes. If you or your children do not like onions in dishes, you can omit them altogether.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

In a bowl, combine minced meat, onion, egg, salt and pepper. Knead the minced meat thoroughly with your hands until smooth. If you wish, you can add a clove of garlic passed through a press to the minced meat.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Form the minced meat into even round meatballs slightly larger than a walnut.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Now prepare the ingredients for the gravy. You can replace the broth with plain water. In addition to meat, vegetable or chicken broth is suitable. You can replace tomato sauce with ketchup, tomato paste or chopped fresh tomatoes.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Wash the carrots, peel and grate on a coarse grater.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Peel the onion and cut into small cubes.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Add the onions and carrots and fry, stirring, for 2-3 minutes.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Add flour and stir-fry for 1 minute. If you want a thinner gravy, add less flour or more broth.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Add tomato sauce and stir. Cook for another 1 minute.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

While stirring constantly, pour in the hot meat broth.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

Season the gravy with salt and pepper, add bay leaves and bring to a boil.

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

Place the prepared meatballs into the gravy. Bring everything back to a boil and reduce heat to low.

  16. STEP 16

    STEP 16

Simmer the meatballs covered for 20-25 minutes until done. Bon appetit!

I made meatballs with rice and gravy. I liked that you don’t need to pre-fry the meatballs, but just simmer them immediately in the gravy until cooked. I made the gravy according to the recipe, but added half the specified amount of flour (I was afraid that the gravy would burn), and instead of tomato sauce I put 1.5 tablespoons of tomato paste. Both the meatballs and the gravy turned out delicious!

The meatballs turned out great. True, instead of tomato sauce, ordinary tomatoes were added, but this hardly made it any less tasty. Thanks for the good recipe
