What is boiled sausage? It's not exactly minced meat. The lion's share of a typical cooked sausage is soy or wheat protein - seitan. In addition to external differences from classic smoked sausages, boiled sausages do not have such a piquant taste, are less fatty and more watery, which is why the maximum shelf life suffers. A photo of boiled sausage that captures it in its fresh state makes it look like a product made from meat. Even those who have tried boiled sausage may not suspect that pure meat in this type of sausage is usually present in barely more than 1/3 of its mass, and often even less. Processed skin, bones, with all the scraps of meat preserved on them, make up a certain substance that is an important part of boiled sausage. Its share and the share of soy in sausage always outweighs the meat content. As an ingredient, boiled sausage, a recipe that includes its use may well be the tastiest part of it. Most often and best of all it goes with salads. Its most obvious advantage is its low cost compared to expensive sausage varieties. Those who want to discover the secrets of this product and know how to cook boiled sausage should, however, think about another option. Oddly enough, at home it is easier to prepare the most ordinary smoked homemade sausage. Boiled sausage requires a fundamentally different cooking technique and additives.
