  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make a Zebra cake in the oven with kefir? Very simple! First, prepare the necessary ingredients. It is advisable for the eggs and kefir to be at room temperature, so remove them from the refrigerator in advance. Wash the eggs and dry with napkins.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Beat the eggs into a separate bowl and stir with a whisk until smooth, gradually adding sugar. There is no need to use a mixer, since we do not need a fluffy air mass. And it is also advisable not to beat the dough with a whisk, but to mix it. If there are a lot of air bubbles in the dough, they will all rise to the surface during baking and ruin the surface of the cake.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Melt the butter and cool to room temperature.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

While constantly stirring the egg mixture, pour the melted butter into it in a thin stream.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Then pour in kefir at room temperature and stir everything until smooth.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Sift the flour with soda and pour it into the dough in parts, stirring each time until smooth. Instead of soda, you can use baking powder, because with soda the reaction is stronger and the cake can rise and crack, and this will ruin the beautiful top. Keep in mind that you may need more or less flour than I do - focus on the consistency of the dough.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

You should get a homogeneous flowing dough of medium thickness.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Divide the dough into two equal parts.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Pour boiled water into the cocoa and stir until smooth.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Pour cocoa into one part of the dough and stir until smooth. If desired, you can add vanilla flavoring to the second white part.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Line a baking dish (diameter 20-22 cm) with parchment and grease with butter. Pour 2 tbsp into the center. l. white mass, then 2 tbsp. l. chocolate mass. Alternating between both types of dough, fill out the entire form. To make the circles even, the spoon must be held strictly vertically.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Make a pattern on the surface using a toothpick. Place the cake in an oven preheated to 180°C for about 35-40 minutes. Determine the exact baking time and temperature based on your oven.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Cool the finished cake, remove from the mold, cut into pieces and serve. Bon appetit!

I baked “zebra” many times, but according to a different recipe, with sour cream and without butter. I tried to cook according to this recipe. I liked the cake, it was moderately moist, soft, not cloying, with a pleasant silky consistency. It tastes very similar to chocolate cake) When the cake was baking, a chocolate-vanilla aroma was in the kitchen; I love it when the house smells of baked goods. My pie turned out lower, probably because I used a wide pan. This didn't affect the taste, of course. The children ate half the pie while still warm) I recommend the recipe to everyone, it turns out to be a very tasty pie)

Thanks for the recipe! I used spread and creamy margarine instead of butter (to save the budget). It rose by 5 cm with a mold diameter of 22 cm. It turned out good, not dry, reminiscent of the taste of a cupcake! Remains in the recipe collection!!! 😋❤️

My second zebra in my life. The first time I baked a Zebra cake with kefir was about 9 years ago. This time we cooked together with our daughter. Reading the description of the recipe, I felt so much care and warmth in it. The author approached every action with such trepidation. She reminded me that it was necessary to wash the eggs, wrote how to prepare raisins, how to prepare cocoa (I used to pour dry powder directly into the dough and, of course, it was not mixed). The aroma in the house was enchanting. I took into account the note about baking soda and added baking powder to the flour. The cake didn't crack. I baked it in an Ikea glass pan. The whole mass didn’t fit in completely, so I divided it into two doses. It seemed to me that one tablespoon did not make the chocolate mass dark brown (maybe my cocoa is like that), so I diluted another 2 teaspoons with water. On top, I poured caramel topping over the finished cake, sprinkled it with powdered sugar and drew a little. My daughter, devouring a piece of the cake, asked me to make the same one again today. It’s time to open a pastry shop. Thank you, Maria, for the recipe. I will definitely make it again and again! Can you refuse children?

What a beautiful Zebra turned out - the stripes look just like drawings. Indeed, it’s very simple to make these same stripes, and who came up with them? - respect and respect for this talent! Thank you very much for the recipe!

Excellent pie, moderately sweet, moderately moist. Covered with sour cream and cocoa glaze. I will definitely cook it again. Respect to the author! True, it divided the dough unevenly and there were more brown stripes) but this does not affect the taste)
