Cooking timeCooking time: 1 hr 40 mins
  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to bake upside-down pie with apples? First make the filling. Prepare the necessary products for her. Take large apples; sweet and sour varieties work well. Add cinnamon to taste.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash the apples and dry them. Peel and seed the apples and cut into medium-thick slices. You don't want to cut the apples too thin to ensure they retain their shape when cooked. When cutting, sprinkle the apples with lemon juice to prevent them from darkening too much.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Melt butter in a frying pan, add sugar, stir.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Over moderate heat with constant stirring, bring the mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved. Boil the mixture for about 5 minutes.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Add honey to the pan and stir.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Cook the mixture for another 3-4 minutes until it has a caramel color. At the same time, do not leave the stove and stir the mixture all the time so that it does not burn.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Place the prepared apples in the pan and stir.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Cook the filling over moderate heat, stirring occasionally, until the apples are half cooked. Sprinkle apples with cinnamon and stir. Remove the pan from the heat and let the filling cool. To make this happen faster, transfer the filling to a separate plate.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Measure out the ingredients needed to make the dough. Remove the butter from the refrigerator in advance to soften it. Take large eggs. Vanilla sugar can be replaced with vanillin.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Mix flour with baking powder, sift through a sieve. Sifting will saturate the flour with oxygen and the cake will rise better during baking.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Beat soft butter with sugar and vanilla sugar until fluffy and light.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Pour milk into the resulting mass and stir.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

Add flour sifted with baking powder. Mix thoroughly until smooth.

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

The dough turns out to be thick, smooth, and creamy in consistency.

  16. STEP 16

    STEP 16

Place the apple filling along with the caramel syrup on the bottom of the baking dish. The mold does not need to be greased beforehand, since the filling is wet and the dough contains a sufficient amount of oil. I used a springform pan with a diameter of 22 cm. But if your pan does not close tightly, it is better to bake the pie in a ceramic, silicone or heat-resistant glass pan so that the filling does not leak out.

  17. STEP 17

    STEP 17

Spread the dough evenly over the filling, leveling with a spoon or spatula.

  18. STEP 18

    STEP 18

Immediately bake the cake in an oven preheated to 180C for 35-40 minutes until golden brown. When the top layer of baked goods is slightly browned, check it for readiness: pierce it with a wooden skewer in several places; if the skewer comes out dry, then the pan can be removed from the oven. Let the cake cool slightly in the pan.

  19. STEP 19

    STEP 19

Then invert the pie onto a plate so the apples are on top.

  20. STEP 20

    STEP 20

Once the cake has cooled, you can sprinkle powdered sugar on top. Cut the pie into pieces and serve. Bon appetit!

Apple pies are probably the most delicious and fragrant. If there are apples in our house, then there will definitely be apple pie. I also love flip flops, I usually make them from raw fruit, but here I found a recipe with caramelized apples. This option is undoubtedly cooler) For the filling I took two large apples, I was afraid that it would be too wet. Then I concluded that I could use three, the filling turned out not wet at all, the caramel was correct, the moisture was perfectly distributed throughout the pie. You need to watch the caramel in the pan closely to make sure it doesn't burn. The apples in it became so beautiful and transparent, I wanted to eat them right away) The dough turned out thick, similar to butter cream. I didn’t grease the pan with anything, but I laid a circle of parchment on the bottom to make it easy to turn the pie over without losing the apples. The pie actually flipped onto the plate without any problems. I didn't even decorate the top with anything. The camera does not convey all the beauty of the apple layer. It’s like it’s made of glass, the apples are transparent. The pie was a great success. The dough is airy, soft, porous, and tastes very pleasant. The caramel apple layer is just fire! Honey gives apples an additional specific taste. I didn’t add cinnamon, but for those who like it, I recommend adding it, it will be even more fragrant. The pie is wonderful, I recommend it!
