STEP 1

How to make delicious cabbage rolls with cabbage in a slow cooker in sour cream sauce? To begin, prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. Wash the head of cabbage, remove the damaged top leaves. You can cut the stalk right away or leave it, as you prefer. I cut off the protruding part of the stalk.
STEP 2

In a large saucepan that will fit the entire head of cabbage, boil water. Lay out the cabbage. Cook for 5 minutes. Then turn the head over and cook for another 5 minutes.
STEP 3

Remove the cabbage from the pan, cool slightly so as not to burn yourself, and carefully separate into individual leaves. It is better to cut off the white hard part of the base of the leaf. The upper leaves are usually easier to remove. But then, if the leaves are hard, break and are difficult to separate from the head of cabbage, return the head of cabbage to the pan and keep it in boiling water a little more. After that, continue to disassemble the head of cabbage. I only needed 12 leaves for this amount of filling.
STEP 4

Now prepare the filling. If you wish, you can add grated carrots and garlic passed through a press. In addition to salt and pepper, you can add your own spices to taste. You can take minced meat from pork or beef, or mixed.

Peel the onion and cut into small cubes.
STEP 6

Boil the rice in plenty of boiling water until half cooked. About 10 minutes. Then place the rice in a sieve and drain.
STEP 7

In a bowl, combine onion, minced meat, rice, salt and pepper.

Mix everything thoroughly until smooth.
STEP 9

Place 1 tbsp on the edge of each cabbage leaf. l. minced meat and fold the sheet into an envelope. It is better to wrap from the harder edge near the stalk to the softer one. This way the envelope will not unfold and will retain its shape.
STEP 10

Form the remaining envelopes in the same way. I got 12 cabbage rolls.
STEP 11

Set the multicooker to the “Frying” mode for 20 minutes. Heat vegetable oil in it and fry the cabbage rolls in parts on both sides until golden brown.
STEP 12

Transfer the finished cabbage rolls to a plate. And load a new batch into the multicooker. If you wish, you can completely skip the frying step and simply put all the cabbage rolls in a bowl and pour in the sauce. But in this case, it is better to extend the simmering time by 20-30 minutes.
STEP 13

While the cabbage rolls are frying, prepare the sauce. Instead of water, you can take milk or cream 10%, replace tomato paste with ketchup or tomato sauce. Sour cream is suitable for any fat content. If you want more gravy, you can increase the sauce ingredients by a third.
STEP 14

Place ketchup, sour cream and salt into the water. Mix everything until smooth. There should be no lumps of sour cream left in the sauce.
STEP 15

Place all the cabbage rolls into the multicooker bowl. Pour sauce on top.
STEP 16

Set the multicooker to the “Stew” mode for 1.5 hours. The exact time depends on the brand of your slow cooker, the thickness of the cabbage rolls and the stiffness of the cabbage. If you have not fried cabbage rolls before, increase the simmering time by 20-30 minutes. Bon appetit!
