STEP 1

How to make homemade shawarma in pita bread with chicken? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Choose thin and not dry lavash so that it does not break when wrapped. Instead of legs, you can use any part of the chicken, but with legs, the shawarma is especially juicy. I have ready-made carrots, you can cook them yourself according to your favorite recipe. Peking cabbage is suitable instead of white cabbage. The cucumber can be taken not fresh, but pickled. Use any spices to suit your taste.
STEP 2

First, cook the chicken. This can be done in absolutely any way - frying, stewing, baking. You can use leftover grilled chicken. Shawarma is a great option for uneaten chicken parts. I bake chicken in the oven. To do this, place the chicken in a baking dish, add salt and pepper. I took red and black pepper. Drizzle with a small amount of vegetable oil. Mix the chicken well. Bake it for about 40 minutes in the oven at 200°C.
STEP 3

While the chicken is baking, prepare the sauce. To do this, simply mix mayonnaise and ketchup until smooth. Instead of mayonnaise, you can use sour cream. Then add garlic to the sauce. To reduce the calorie content of the dish, use natural yogurt as a sauce. Add salt, spices and garlic to it to taste.

Finely chop the cabbage. If you use cabbage, lightly knead it with your hands to make it soft.

Wash the cucumber and tomato well, dry and cut into thin slices.

Meanwhile, the chicken is baked, remove it from the oven and cool slightly. I have such a large quantity because I baked it not only for shawarma.

Remove the skin from the legs and cut off the meat. Finely chop the meat with a knife.

Turn the pita bread with the short side facing you. Spread the sauce in the center, moving away from the edges. Place a layer of cabbage.
STEP 9

Place cucumber slices on the cabbage and tomatoes on them. If you are preparing shawarma in winter, then you don’t have to put the tomato. If you like onions, add them before cutting them into thin half rings. We don't like onions, so we don't add them.

Next add a layer of meat.

Place Korean carrots on the meat.

Folding the edges of the pita bread towards the center, wrap the filling in the form of a roll.

Preheat the grill pan. Place shawarma on it.
