  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to bake a jellied pie with saury and potatoes in the oven? First, prepare all the necessary ingredients for the dough. You can make your own mayonnaise. You will find the recipes after the last step. I used 20% fat sour cream.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Beat the eggs into a separate bowl, add baking soda and salt and mix. Read about all the nuances of working with soda in a separate article at the link at the end of the recipe.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Add mayonnaise and sour cream and mix everything until smooth.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Sift the flour. This will make the dough fluffier and more tender. Pour the sifted flour into the dough. Mix everything thoroughly again. The dough will become covered with bubbles and increase slightly in volume.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Prepare all the necessary ingredients for the filling. Turn on the oven at 180 degrees in advance.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Place the canned saury from the jar into a bowl and mash with a fork.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Boil the eggs hard. Read about how to do this correctly in a separate article at the link at the end of the recipe. Cool the boiled eggs, peel and finely chop.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Combine boiled eggs and saury in a bowl. To make the filling juicier, you can add 2-3 tablespoons of liquid from a jar of fish. By the way, a few tablespoons of liquid can be added to the dough to enhance the fishy taste.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Mix the filling thoroughly. If desired, you can add finely chopped fried onions to the filling.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin slices.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Pour half of the dough into a mold greased with vegetable oil. Read about how to choose the right baking dish in a separate article at the link at the end of the recipe.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Place half of the potato slices on top in a single layer.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Spread the mixture of saury and eggs evenly over the potatoes.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

Place the remaining potato slices in the next layer.

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

Fill the pie with the remaining half of the dough. Bake the pie in a preheated oven at 180° for about 45 minutes until golden brown. The exact time depends on your oven. Read about the operating features of various ovens in a separate article at the link at the end of the recipe. Keep the finished pie in the cooling oven for another 10-15 minutes.

  16. STEP 16

    STEP 16

Remove the finished pie from the mold, cut into pieces and serve immediately. Bon appetit!

I'll have to try making it with canned salmon and adding some peeled shrimp, it seems no one has ever done this before

I know the same pie only called liquid. Very good. You can play with the filling. I once cooked it with liver, it turned out very tasty. But I haven’t tried adding cucumbers to the filling. Your recipe is more economical; mine uses sour cream.

A very interesting recipe. Especially the filling :) Thanks for the step-by-step photos. I also want to experiment with the filling (for example, make it with seafood). It should also be delicious.

A really tasty pie - it went great with beer in our family! I used canned sardines in oil as a filling!

Awesome pie and wonderful, juicy filling! I sometimes make puff pastry pies with this filling. And the dough itself is so fluffy and airy! I will definitely try to make this pie with different fillings!
