Pie with cranberries and apples
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
Let's prepare the ingredients according to the list. Shortbread dough for such a pie can be called quick and one of the most successful. Place softened and diced butter in a deep bowl. It can be replaced with margarine as a cheaper product; such a replacement does not particularly affect the taste.
STEP 2
To make the dough taste more tender and soft, add sour cream; I used a 20% product.
STEP 3
Add sugar and a pinch of salt to balance the taste.
STEP 4
Mix the ingredients until smooth.
STEP 5
Add sifted wheat flour and soda, slaked with table vinegar, you can use ready-made baking powder, a pinch of vanillin to create a pleasant aroma.
STEP 6
We knead the elastic and smooth dough; you don’t need to knead the shortbread dough with your hands for a long time, otherwise it will be tight and the products made from it will be hard. Wrap the dough in cling film and put it in the refrigerator for half an hour.
STEP 7
While the dough is resting, prepare the pie filling. Cranberries have a sour taste, so to make the filling as a whole moderately sour, you need to add sweet apples. If the apples have a hard skin, it is better to remove it and cut out the seed pod. Cut the apple pulp into small pieces or slices.
STEP 8
Take the “rested” dough out of the refrigerator, divide it into two parts, roll out a larger piece of dough into a layer about 0.5 cm thick, the size of a pie pan. Grease a baking dish with butter and place the dough in it, forming small sides.
STEP 9
Place cooked apples and washed, dried cranberries on the dough (frozen berries can be used). Sprinkle sugar on top of cranberries.
STEP 10
From the remaining dough we make a lattice for decorating the pie; if desired, the pie can be decorated in a different way. To make the pie nicely golden brown, brush the top with beaten egg yolk. We send the pie preparation to the oven, preheated to 180 degrees, for 30 minutes, the baking time depends on the operation of the oven and the size of the mold, the juiciness of the filling.
STEP 11
The pie should be slightly browned on top. Bon appetit!
