Pie with chicken and potatoes made from yeast dough
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to bake a pie with chicken and potatoes from yeast dough? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Take large, selected eggs. Use premium flour.
STEP 2
Heat the milk in a saucepan to a temperature of 37-40°C. Add sugar, salt and yeast to warm milk. Leave the yeast to activate for 15 minutes. A fluffy foam cap should appear on the surface. This means that the yeast is active and can be cooked further. If the cap still does not appear, then either the yeast is spoiled or the milk is overheated. In this case, you need to use other yeast.
STEP 3
Take the eggs and break them into a deep bowl. Add vegetable oil, stir with a fork or whisk.
STEP 4
Pour activated yeast into the eggs.
STEP 5
Sift the flour through a sieve or using a special mug and gradually add it to the dough, spoon by spoon. Stirring all the time.
STEP 6
Knead into a soft, elastic dough with your hands, adding a little more flour if necessary. At first the dough will be very sticky to your hands, but as you knead, the stickiness will become minimal. Be prepared for the fact that you may need less or more flour.
STEP 7
Cover the bowl with the dough with a towel and leave for about 1 hour to rise.
STEP 8
While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. For juiciness, you can add finely chopped onion and fried in vegetable oil to the filling. Or fry carrots and onions.
STEP 9
Wash and dry the chicken fillet. Cut the chicken into small cubes so that it cooks well. If you wish, you can fry it in advance.
STEP 10
Peel the carrots and cut into small cubes or in another convenient way.
STEP 11
Peel the potatoes and also cut into small cubes. It is important to chop the potatoes finely, since depending on the variety, they need more time to cook. And when the chicken and carrots are done, the potatoes can stay firm. Therefore, the smaller you chop, the better.
STEP 12
In a bowl, combine chicken fillet, potatoes, carrots, mayonnaise, curry, paprika and ground pepper. Mix everything thoroughly. You can replace mayonnaise with sour cream. Also add spices to your taste.
STEP 13
Punch down the risen dough and divide into two unequal parts.
STEP 14
Roll out most of the dough on a floured surface so that there is enough to cover the bottom and sides of the baking dish.
STEP 15
Place the rolled out dough into a baking dish greased with vegetable oil and make sides. A large baking dish is needed here - with a diameter of 26-30 cm, a small baking sheet will also do.
STEP 16
Place the filling on the dough and smooth it out.
STEP 17
Roll out the second part of the dough to the diameter of the mold.
STEP 18
Place the dough on top of the filling and seal the edges. Make a small hole in the middle of the cake to allow steam to escape.
STEP 19
To grease, take an egg and wash it in warm water and baking soda, as there may be harmful bacteria on its surface. Break the egg into a bowl.
STEP 20
Pour milk into the egg and beat with a fork or whisk until smooth.
STEP 21
Brush the top of the cake with beaten egg using a silicone brush. Bake the pie in an oven preheated to 190°C for about 1 hour. If the dough begins to brown and the pie is not ready yet, cover the pie with a double sheet of foil. The time is approximate, be guided by the operating characteristics of your oven.
STEP 22
Remove the finished pie from the oven, cover with a towel and let stand for 5-7 minutes. Then remove the cake from the mold and cut into pieces. Bon appetit!
