Khachapuri with cheese and potatoes in the oven

A wonderful snack that is good for breakfast and as a snack! Please note that this is not a Georgian khachapuri recipe - nothing is added to the filling except cheese (maybe also an egg). But, believe me, by adding potatoes, khachapuri can be made more satisfying and even tastier))

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

    Ingredients

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Mix sour cream, salt and sugar. When the sugar dissolves, add softened butter (or margarine). Then combine with flour, which was previously mixed with soda, and knead the dough.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Mash the boiled potatoes, add grated cheese, salt (if the cheese is lightly salted) and beat in a raw egg. Add potatoes to the filling if desired. If you want truly Georgian khachapuri, then the filling is only cheese.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Divide the dough into parts and roll out flat cakes (10–12 cm diameter).

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Place the filling in the center and press down a little (you can add a small piece of butter at a time).

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

We wrap the edges and seal with an envelope.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Coat the khachapuri with beaten egg and place on an oiled baking sheet. Sometimes I also put baking paper on the baking sheet. Place in the oven preheated to 220-230 C* and bake for about fifteen minutes.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Khachapuri with potatoes and cheese is ready!

Very good recipe, the khachapuri turned out to be of excellent taste. They can be served with tea, coffee, and even juice. The good news is that their preparation does not take much time.

I’ve been wanting to learn how to make khachapuri for a long time, I really liked the name. I’ve always heard about this dish, you’ll see it on a TV show, or in which movie they’ll show it. Today I saw this recipe and immediately adopted it. A wonderful combination of products, especially cheese and especially when it’s baked. You’ll lick your fingers. Many thanks to the author of the recipe, it pleased the soul!!!

Sorry, but WHAT DOES POTATOES HAVE TO DO WITH IT???? Khachapuri is something with cheese. They literally translate as “cheese bread” or “bread with cheese” (as you like). And the potatoes in them are purely your invention. Real khachapuri only with cheese, sometimes with cheese and herbs. You don’t have khachapuri, but cheese flatbreads with potatoes... Just as there is no khachapuri with meat, and such flatbreads are called kubdari...

Strange people! They were given a wonderful recipe with room for imagination, and they said something about potatoes. My father is Ossetian, and since childhood I often visit my grandparents in Alanya, and I’ll tell you that khachapuri is made with potatoes, and with cheese, and with potatoes with cheese, with beet tops. Nobody calls these pies differently, just like you don’t call pies with egg and rice differently, although everyone cooks it in their own way... it’s not some kind of foie gras, but a folk recipe, like borscht - everyone cooks it differently , but in the end there is Borscht on the table and let someone dare to doubt the correctness of the recipe! Wow! Many housewives will simply tear it up! In cooking, as in any art, there are no right, there are those deprived of taste)))
