STEP 1
How to fry potato cakes in a frying pan? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. The basis of this dish is mashed potatoes. Wash the potatoes with a brush, peel, rinse and boil in salted water until tender. This takes about 20-25 minutes - depends on the size of the tubers. Drain all the water, add butter and mash the potatoes. Transfer the puree to a bowl. Taste it for salt; if it is not enough, add more salt.
STEP 2
Beat eggs into a bowl with slightly cooled mashed potatoes and add grated hard cheese. It is better to use homemade eggs, then the dough will acquire a rich yellow color, and the finished dish will be more tasty. Before using, eggs must be washed with soda, as there may be harmful bacteria on their surface.
STEP 3
Mix everything well with a spoon or fork. You should get a viscous mass.
STEP 4
Next, add the flour sifted through a sieve.
STEP 5
Knead the dough. You may need less or more flour, as flour varies. Be aware that the dough must have a suitable consistency so that it can be made into balls. It should not stick to your hands, but it should not be too mealy.
STEP 6
The resulting dough will make four small cakes, so visually divide it into 4 parts and roll each into a bun.
STEP 7
Pour vegetable oil into the frying pan and let it warm up. Next, take a ball of dough, transfer it to the frying pan and use a spoon to knead it into a flat cake - do not make the flat cake too thin, it should turn out fluffy. Fry the workpiece on one side over moderate heat for 4-5 minutes until browned.
STEP 8
Turn the tortilla over to the other side and fry for the same time. Remove the finished flatbread from the pan and fry the remaining three pieces. Serve these mashed potato flatbreads with cheese hot for main courses or eat them as is. Bon appetit!
