Adjarian khachapuri boat with egg

Fragrant and tasty khachapuri with the addition of eggs! I have always liked khachapuri - these are Georgian pies with cheese (translated as “bread with cheese” or “cheese bread”), usually they are closed, but Adjarian khachapuri is open. A great option for a hearty snack!

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make Adjarian-style khachapuri boat with egg? Prepare the filling. To do this, grate both types of cheese into a bowl, pour in the cream and knead the cheese with your hands until it is homogeneous.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

    Add a spoonful of flour.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Add washed and finely chopped herbs and, if necessary, salt. Knead the filling completely.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Prepare the dough. Sift the flour into a deep bowl, add dry yeast, salt and sugar. Mix everything very well and add warm water. Knead the soft dough. At the end of kneading, add vegetable oil and mix it into the dough. Form a bun, cover it with cling film and place in a warm place. Divide the risen dough into two equal parts.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Take one piece of dough and roll it into an oval.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Do the same with the second part and then place both on a baking sheet.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Spread the cheese filling on top of the tortillas, leaving small edges.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Fold the edges of each cake into a boat shape, as shown in the photo.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Brush the dough with beaten egg and place in an oven preheated to 220 degrees for 15 minutes.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Remove khachapuri from the oven. Make a hole in the middle with a spoon and pour the yolk into it. Salt and pepper the yolk. Bake the khachapuri for another 5-7 minutes. Grease the finished khachapuri with butter. Place a piece of butter on the filling. Our dish is ready to serve!

I prepared 4 khachapuriks. Alas, we don’t have either Adyghe cheese or suluguni here (I found a cheese that looked similar, but it turned out to be very expensive compared to ordinary hard cheese. In short, “I made it from what I had” 😼😒 ...umm.. from gouda, mozzarella and feta. I, of course, deviated from the recipe, which is not very good, alas, I can’t say anything about the author’s recipe. I’ll tell you what happened for me. All my household ate it with pleasure, but very filling and fatty. And expensive, because I personally used a lot of cheese for my forcedly distorted recipe. In short, pizza is also cheaper. The result was that for us in our region it’s easier to buy ingredients for pizza, but for variety and my pseudo-khachapuri will do.
