Kefir donuts fried in a frying pan
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to fry crumpets with kefir in a frying pan? Prepare your ingredients. The dough for this recipe for donuts is a great way to use up the remains of yesterday’s kefir, which you don’t want to eat in its usual form. With sour kefir, the crumpets turn out even fluffier and airier! The only condition is to take kefir with at least 3% fat content. Wash the raw egg and dry it with a napkin.
STEP 2
In a deep bowl, place sugar, salt, vanillin on the tip of a knife (read the instructions on the package, vanillin and vanilla sugar differ in dosage and methods of adding to the dish) and beat in a raw chicken egg.
STEP 3
Beat the ingredients until the mixture is homogeneous in consistency using a mixer, blender or whisk.
STEP 4
Add room temperature kefir to the egg mixture. Immediately add the baking soda and stir until the alkali reacts with the acid. Pour three tablespoons of vegetable oil into the bowl and stir again.
STEP 5
Add sifted wheat flour to the mixture. It is necessary to sift flour, not only to remove various types of impurities, but also to saturate the product with oxygen and make products made from it more fluffy and delicate in taste. Add flour in small portions, stirring the ingredients each time. It may take you more or less flour than it did for me. Focus on the consistency of the dough.
STEP 6
When the mixture comes together into a thick dough, transfer it to a floured work surface and continue kneading with your hands. The dough should be dense, but not tight. It will stick slightly to your hands, there is nothing wrong with that.
STEP 7
On a floured work surface, roll out a layer of dough 0.5 cm thick. Use a punch or glass to cut out circles.
STEP 8
Pour vegetable oil into the frying pan until it covers the crumpets halfway. Heat it high until it sizzles. Place the crumpet pieces into the oil. Fry them over medium heat for about 2-3 minutes on one side, then flip them over and cook them on the other side until golden brown. Focus on your stove.
STEP 9
Remove the crumpets from the pan and place on a plate lined with paper napkins so that excess oil is absorbed into the paper. Transfer the crumpets to a plate and serve, sprinkling them with powdered sugar, sour cream or jam on top. They are very tasty and satisfying with condensed milk or jam. They don’t go stale for a long time and are tasty even cold. Bon appetit!
