Herring under a fur coat with egg
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make herring under a fur coat with an egg? Prepare your food. You can take the herring in the form of ready-made fillets, it will be more convenient and faster. Rinse the vegetables thoroughly to remove any dirt. Then boil the beets and potatoes in separate pans in boiling water until tender. It takes 15-20 minutes to cook the potatoes. Cooking beets takes 1-1.5 hours, depending on their size. Check readiness with a sharp knife - it should easily pierce the root vegetable.
STEP 2
Boil the eggs as well. How to hard boil eggs? To prevent eggs from cracking during cooking, place them in cold water and cook over low heat. Boil the eggs for 9 minutes after boiling, then cover with cold water and cool. The shell will be better cleaned from a sharp temperature change. Cool and peel the cooled eggs, potatoes and beets.
STEP 3
Peel the onion, rinse in cold water and finely chop. Place the chopped onion in a deep plate and pour 9% vinegar over it. Leave the onion to marinate for 10-15 minutes. Then drain the vinegar and rinse the onion once in cold water. Pickled onions give the finished salad a unique taste and aroma. But you can use the onions immediately, without pickling.
STEP 4
Salad "Herring under a fur coat" is traditionally laid out in layers. I will use a culinary ring. Grate the potatoes on a coarse grater and place them in the first layer on the bottom of the mold. Press down a little with a press or spoon. Spread a layer of potatoes with a small amount of mayonnaise.
STEP 5
Finely chop the herring fillet. If you have a whole fish, first gut it and fillet it. How to properly fillet a whole fish? Remove the tail, head and fins. Cut along the ridge of the carcass to the spine. Turn over onto its side. Using a sharp knife, cut the meat from the spinal bone. Turn the carcass over and cut off the fillet on the other side. Clean the inside, removing the black film, as it is bitter and will spoil the taste. Rinse and dry well.
STEP 6
Place the chopped herring in the next layer. Sprinkle some pickled onions on the herring. And grease with mayonnaise again.
STEP 7
Divide the boiled eggs into white and yolk. Grate the white on a coarse grater and place in the next layer, pressing it slightly. Also grease this layer with a small amount of mayonnaise.
STEP 8
Grate the boiled beets in the same way on a coarse grater and place in the next layer. Press lightly. Spread with mayonnaise.
STEP 9
Sprinkle the top of the salad with finely grated egg yolks. Remove the finished salad from the mold and cool slightly in the refrigerator before serving.
STEP 10
Serve the herring under a fur coat to the table. Bon appetit!
