Clean the fish from scales, cut off the heads and tails, and also remove the fins. Rinse the carcasses under running water, dry with paper towels and cut into pieces about 2-3 centimeters thick.

    Chop the cabbage finely with a knife or in another way convenient for you, for example, on a grater, shredder or meat grinder with a special attachment.

    Take a bowl. Place tomato paste there, pour in 100 milliliters of water, stir until the products are completely combined. Add garlic, passed through a garlic press, salt to taste and, if desired, a small pinch of sugar (to balance the taste). Mix well.

    Cut the onion into thin half rings and grate the carrots on a coarse grater. If desired, the cutting method can be changed. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan, add vegetables to the oil and fry for about one minute, stirring occasionally.

    Pour the tomato sauce into the vegetables and mix everything thoroughly. Reduce heat to medium and simmer the cabbage under a closed lid for 5 minutes. At this point, we complete the frying of the vegetables and remove the frying pan from the stove.

    Take a baking dish, place half of the cabbage as the first layer, and place pieces of fish on top. Sprinkle them with allspice or ground black pepper, sprinkle with freshly squeezed lemon juice (optional) and lightly salt.

    Place the remaining cabbage in the final layer. Distribute it evenly over the entire surface of the mold and press lightly with a silicone spatula.

    Pepper the dish as desired and place the baking dish in an oven preheated to 180-220 degrees. Turn the oven to “top-bottom” mode and bake for about 30-40 minutes. The times are approximate, be guided by the operating characteristics of your oven.

Fish and cabbage are the perfect combination! This is exactly why I chose this recipe. To begin with, I stewed the cabbage with vegetables and tomato paste. Then I put the cabbage on a baking sheet and placed the cleaned fish, I used pollock. I like this fish, it is not expensive and if cooked correctly, it is very tasty. I placed the final layer of cabbage in the oven. After 40 minutes everything was ready. The fish turned out juicy, apparently the cabbage imbued it with its juice. Cabbage, as an addition to fish, is aromatic and soft.
