  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

Let's prepare the ingredients. If you are ready to prepare yeast dough specifically for baguette, then prepare the ingredients for the dough. We will prepare the baguette dough in a quick way, so it will turn out much faster than regular yeast dough. In a glass of warm water (we heat the water in the microwave for just a few seconds, it should be warm, not hot), dissolve the sugar, add dry yeast and add a tablespoon of flour, mix again.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Place the container in a warm place for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare the flour and sift it. Beat a chicken egg into a large bowl, add salt and lightly beat it with a fork until the egg breaks apart and the salt dissolves.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

    Add vegetable oil.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Pour in the dough. Mix. And we begin to add flour. It may take a little more or less flour, depending on the quality and density of the flour. First knead the dough with a spoon in a bowl, then put it on a board sprinkled with flour and knead the dough.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

It should turn out dense and elastic. Place cling film over a bowl. Place in a warm place for 40 minutes.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

The yeast dough is ready. We form a thick sausage out of it, cut it into equal pieces, from which we form the blanks of our baguettes.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Place them on a greased pan and place them in a warm place for 15 minutes to rise.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

If desired, you can make streusel for topping the baguettes. Grind a tablespoon of flour with 20 g of butter into crumbs. Sprinkle the baguettes with streusel and place them in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 25 minutes.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

In the meantime, you can prepare the filling. Cut the ham into slices.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

We take any hard cheese to taste and availability. We also cut the cheese into thin slices; if desired, you can grate it, but this will not change the essence, the cheese will melt equally in the baguette.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Take out the golden brown baguettes with a crispy crust. Let them cool a little, cut them lengthwise.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Place slices of ham on the bottom of the baguette, cheese and herbs on top if desired. Close the lid on top and put it back in the oven for 10 minutes at 180 degrees. Remove the finished baguettes with ham and cheese. Let them cool a little and serve. Bon appetit!

When kneading the dough for baguettes with ham and cheese, I used more flour than indicated in the recipe, however, it did not turn out “dense and elastic”. But I didn’t add any more flour, I left the dough in a warm place, kneaded the sticky dough twice during proofing, and then formed the baguettes on a well-floured work surface. The baguettes turned out very tender and soft on the inside, with a thick crispy crust on the outside. I covered the finished baguettes with a towel and left them until they cooled completely, only then I cut them and baked them again with ham and cheese. These turned out to be wonderful hot sandwiches! Very tasty! I recommend the recipe!
