  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make strudel with meat from puff pastry? Prepare your food. Thaw the dough in advance. It is best to do this slowly; to do this, put the dough from the freezer into the refrigerator for several hours. But if you are limited in time, then simply cut the packaging and remove the layers of dough. Place them on the board separately, do not leave one on top of the other, otherwise the layers will stick together after thawing.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Break the white bread into pieces, place in a bowl and cover with milk. Leave it to soak for 10 minutes. After 5 minutes, turn the pieces over to coat evenly.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Peel the onion. Grate it on a fine grater into a bowl with minced meat. You can chop the onion, but then it’s better to fry it later, because large raw pieces will not decorate your minced meat. Instead of and along with onions, you can add garlic. I didn't add any garlic.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Add the raw egg, salt and pepper to the bowl with the minced meat. Squeeze out the bread soaked in milk and add it to the minced meat.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Mix the minced meat well - it should become absolutely homogeneous and soft. If the minced meat remains a little dry, add a little milk in which the bread was soaked.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Roll out the puff pastry on a floured work surface. You should get a rectangular thin layer, several millimeters thick. My dough is yeast-free.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Place the minced meat on the rectangle of dough, spread it evenly over the entire surface, retreating a few centimeters from the edges.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Roll the dough into a roll. Do the same with the second layer. I made a little mistake with it, I rolled it out too thin, there wasn’t enough minced meat to cover the entire surface, and the roll turned out thin and long. So when rolling out, be guided by the size of the baking sheet on which you will bake and the amount of minced meat.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Place the strudels on a baking sheet lined with parchment.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Lightly beat the raw egg with a fork or whisk in a separate bowl. Brush the rolls with beaten egg using a pastry brush. You can sprinkle the top of the strudels with sesame seeds if you wish.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Bake the strudels in the oven, preheated to 180°C, top-bottom mode, for about an hour, until golden brown. Determine the exact baking time and temperature based on your oven. Cool the finished strudels a little, cut and serve.

Great recipe. A hearty, delicious strudel for lunch or snack. I love and often bake a sweet version - strudel with apples for tea.

Today I made a strudel with meat from puff pastry. For this I took store-bought yeast-free puff pastry. I rolled it out to the size of my baking sheet, the workpiece came out about 3 mm thick. Place the filling on top of the dough. I prepared it using minced pork, onion, salt and egg. I did not add white bread to the filling. Since my filling turned out to be quite viscous, I spread it over the entire surface of the dough with a fork. Having formed a roll, she brushed the top of the strudel with beaten egg, sprinkled a mixture of sesame and flaxseed on top. The strudel browned in the oven, it turned out aromatic and tasty! The filling came out soft and juicy. Next time, when making baked goods with meat (pies, rolls, strudels, etc.), I will prepare the filling according to this recipe. Thank you very much for the recipe!
