Polish shortbread pie with poppy seed filling

I bought the poppy seed already ground. The recipe called for regular. If you have ordinary poppy seeds, then you need to pour boiling water over it for an hour or two. Then grind 2 times in a meat grinder.

So first we make shortcrust pastry. To do this, mix soft butter with flour and powdered sugar. Do not add all the flour at once. Mix everything and add the egg. Then the rest of the flour.

This is how the dough turned out. Well, usually we put the shortbread dough in the cold for half an hour. This is to stabilize it. Then we divide it into 2 parts.

Now let's take the paper. Place one part on it and roll out the cake through the film.

We measure with a form. That is, we put it on top. Trim off excess dough. And if necessary, we’ll add it where it’s missing.

This is what happened. My size is 28 by 20 cm. We turn the edges slightly up. Place in the oven to bake for 15 minutes. Our oven is preheated to 180 degrees.

And we quickly make the filling. Raisins need to be poured with boiling water for 30 minutes in advance. Let's strain it. Dry with paper napkins. And grind it with a blender.

Divide the eggs into whites and yolks. Mix soft butter with sugar. Beat with a mixer or whisk. Let's add the yolks.
STEP 10

Add flour, honey, ground nuts.
STEP 11

Now add poppy seeds and raisins. Beat the egg whites.
STEP 12

And also mix with the poppy mixture. Carefully.

This is the kind of lush mass we get.

Let's take out our dough. And spread the poppy mixture.
STEP 15

Let's align it. I took a spoon, wet it with water and lightly walked over the mixture. Sprinkle semolina on top.

Now take our second piece of dough. Let's roll it out on paper through film. And using paper, we transfer it to the poppy. Press down along the edges. We make punctures. And set to bake for 50 minutes at 180 degrees.

The pie will be ready when the top is browned. We take it out and let it cool.
STEP 18

When it has cooled, pour the glaze over it. To do this, take powdered sugar and add water. That's it. Our pie is ready.
