Oatmeal porridge with caramel apples and almonds

Tired of boring oatmeal for breakfast, then decorate it in a new way!!! This porridge for breakfast is a great start to the day! The porridge turns out very aromatic and tender. I like to cook oatmeal using a mixture of water and milk (this is what I generally do with any milk porridge), but you can cook it either entirely with water or with milk. I don’t add sugar to the porridge itself; there is enough sweetness from both apples and almonds. Sweet almonds can be prepared in advance, which will take even less time. You don’t have to add cinnamon if you don’t like it, then you can replace it with vanilla sugar. But personally, I just love the combination of apples and cinnamon :)

Step-by-step preparation

Cooking timeCooking time: 30 mins
  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

Let's deal with the sweet almonds first. To do this, preheat the oven to 180 C.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Place the almond petals on a sieve and moisten them under running water (we do this so that the powdered sugar can stick to the petals). Let the excess water drain.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Sprinkle the petals with powdered sugar and shake well so that the almonds are evenly covered with powder.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Place on a baking sheet and distribute. Place in a preheated oven for 10 minutes. The almonds should be slightly golden. Be careful, every oven is different, it may take less time, make sure the almonds don’t burn!

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

While the almonds are in the oven, let's make our base.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Pour oatmeal into a saucepan and fill with water. Bring to a boil.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

In the meantime, the almonds are ready. It has turned into a solid layer.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

All we have to do is break it into pieces.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

As soon as the oatmeal boils, pour in milk, bring to a boil, turn off and leave to brew for 10 minutes.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

So, the petals are ready, the oatmeal is on the stove, there are apples left. We clean them, cut them (I cut them quite large) and sprinkle them with lemon juice.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Melt the butter in a frying pan, lay out the apples, sprinkle the apples with sugar and cinnamon and simmer lightly. The time depends on the size of the pieces and the desired softness, I simmer for 2-3 minutes.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

We have everything ready, all that remains is to assemble it. Place oatmeal on a plate, top with caramel apples and sprinkle with sweet almond petals. Bon appetit and have a nice day!

I love oatmeal for breakfast: it’s tasty, healthy, and you don’t really have to “bother” with preparing it. I also try to diversify what I can taste it with every time. Your idea seemed interesting and unusual to me: with almond petals, cinnamon and apples. I’ll definitely try to cook it, I think it will be delicious! Thank you!

Irisha, I really liked your oatmeal! The idea with almond petals will probably take root in my kitchen; almonds are fried and, in combination with apple and cinnamon, will find their place in oatmeal, milk soup, and casserole - just a great idea)) The process of preparing these petals is so pleasant that by the time they reach the oatmeal, there will be significantly fewer of them, which you will have to pay attention to! Super, how delicious!!!!

A brilliant oatmeal delicacy, sir! Well done Irisha, and I love oatmeal in different variations, and sometimes I also experiment by adding sunflower and pumpkin seeds. I liked the processing of almonds and, thank you, you showed me in detail. I will also use your method. In general, you are great.
