Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make mashed potatoes with butter and milk? Prepare your food. Choose boiling varieties of potatoes; they are the most suitable for mashed potatoes. Milk is natural, tasty, of any fat content. Take the highest quality butter, without vegetable additives; the taste of the dish will depend on its taste. Wash the potatoes well under running water with a brush.
STEP 2
Peel the potatoes and rinse thoroughly. Then cut into medium sized pieces. Place it in a suitable sized saucepan with salted water. Place the pan on the stove, cover it with a lid and bring the water to a boil over high heat. While boiling, skim off the foam, reduce the heat to moderate and cook the potatoes until fully cooked. This is approximately 20-30 minutes. The final cooking time will depend on the type of potato.
STEP 3
After this, drain the water and mash the potatoes well using a special masher. Knead thoroughly so that there are no lumps left.
STEP 4
Now melt the butter along with the milk in a small saucepan and pour this mixture into the mashed potatoes. The milk must be hot. Cold milk causes potatoes to change their usual color to gray and turn out viscous rather than fluffy. Also, cold milk will immediately reduce the temperature of the puree and it will become tasteless.
STEP 5
Using a wooden spoon, beat the potato mixture for a couple of minutes. After this, taste the puree for salt and add it if necessary.
STEP 6
The result is a soft and airy puree. For a holiday, you can beautifully put it on plates using a pastry bag with curly nozzles or decorate it with a salad ring. And for a regular dinner, a regular serving will do. Bon appetit!
