Mashed potato casserole in the oven with minced meat

- STEP 1 - How to make mashed potato casserole in the oven with minced meat? Prepare the necessary ingredients. You can use any minced meat: pork, chicken, beef or mixed. I took minced pork. If necessary, defrost the minced meat in advance. Wash the vegetables and eggs well and dry with napkins. 
- STEP 2 - Peel the potatoes, rinse, and place in a saucepan with water. Salt the water. And boil the potatoes until done. To speed up the process, cut the potatoes into smaller pieces. 
- STEP 3 - Drain the water from the pan through a colander. Grind hot potatoes into puree with the addition of warm milk. You can do this in any way convenient for you: with a masher, with a blender. 
- STEP 4 - Add butter to mashed potatoes and stir. Let the mashed potatoes cool slightly in the pan. 
- STEP 5 - Beat a raw chicken egg into the puree. Stir the mixture until the egg and mashed potatoes are completely combined. You can do this with a spoon, fork, masher or blender. 
- STEP 6 - Peel the onions and cut into small cubes. To prevent your eyes from watering while slicing, wet your knife with cold water. 
- STEP 7 - Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan and add onions. Fry the onion, stirring occasionally, until golden brown. 
- STEP 8 - Add minced meat to the onion. Fry the minced meat over medium heat until the color changes. At the same time, stir it often and knead large lumps. 
- STEP 9 - At the end of cooking, add salt to the minced meat, add dried basil, and stir. Cook for another 5 minutes. You can add any spices to your taste. 
- STEP 10 - Grate the cheese on a fine grater. 
- STEP 11 - Grease a baking dish with butter. Add half of the mashed potatoes and smooth out. I used a mold measuring 18*18 cm. 
- STEP 12 - Then spread a layer of minced meat evenly. 
- STEP 13 - Spread the remaining mashed potatoes on top and smooth out gently. 
- STEP 14 - Sprinkle the top of the casserole with grated cheese. 
- STEP 15 - Bake the potato casserole in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for about 20-25 minutes. Focus on your oven. Serve the casserole hot as an independent dish. Bon appetit!
