  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make classic mulled wine with red wine at home? Prepare the ingredients according to the list. Dry red and semi-dry table wines are ideal for mulled wine. Some recipes use cognac or rum. The set of spices can be changed according to taste and desire. Instead of fresh mint, you can use dried mint. Wash the orange, cut it into thin slices or halves along with the peel.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Place spices, orange and washed mint leaves in a saucepan or other metal container, pour in water. Place the pan on the fire. As a rule, cinnamon, cloves, lemon peel, star anise, honey, and ginger are added to mulled wine. Black pepper, allspice, bay leaf, cardamom can be used. Apples, raisins, and nuts can also be added.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add sugar and stir until sugar dissolves. Turn off the heat. Instead of sugar, if there is no allergy, you can use honey; in this case, honey should be added to the bowl with spices after turning off the heat; it does not need to be heated too much so that the vitamins and nutrients contained in it do not die. Cover the bowl with the mixture and leave for 10 minutes so that the spices release their full aroma.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Strain the mixture through a sieve lined with several layers of gauze. You need to filter the drink well, otherwise the spice powder will grate on your teeth.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Pour the spice broth into a metal bowl again, pour in red wine and put on fire. The main task is to heat the mixture, but not to bring it to a boil, otherwise the drink will lose its taste and alcohol content. Turn off the heat. Pour the drink into cups and serve. Bon appetit!

A wonderful warming drink, especially now in the autumn cold. It’s quick and easy to prepare, it took us a little less than half an hour to 25 minutes, although my husband and I couldn’t find ginger, so we took it from the mulled wine mixture. I hope they’ll credit it to me, I forgot that I needed a photo do it horizontally, and took a photo myself vertically

It’s good to add some cognac, 50-70 ml per bottle of wine.
