I made lean soup with lentils. I have red lentils, they cook very quickly, boil into a homogeneous puree, there is no need to soak them. The tomatoes and bell peppers are frozen. Cut it into cubes. I grated the carrots into strips. Potatoes - into small cubes. Placed everything in a saucepan and poured boiling water over it, adding sunflower oil. From the moment it boiled, stirred and reduced the heat. The soup was cooked for 30 minutes. 5 minutes before it was ready, I added bay leaf, salt and turmeric. The soup is very tasty, satisfying and very easy to prepare, no need to fry anything. The taste is rich and the consistency is thick. Thanks for the recipe!

I am a big fan of soups and borscht made from legumes. They to some extent replace meat and make first courses more satisfying, nutritious and tastier. I remember when I was in the hospital, we were sometimes fed lentil soup. Until then, I had never tried it. And when I tried it and was delighted with this seemingly simple dish. Is it possible to cook the same delicious soup on an electric stove or on a wood stove if you don’t have a pressure cooker on your household?

I do not recommend cooking this soup in a pressure cooker at all. It should simmer over low heat, barely gurgling. Then the lentils will be the right consistency.
