STEP 1

How to make Lenten cookies from oatmeal? Prepare your food. Flakes are best suited for instant cooking; they are softer and bake better. But if you have traditional ones, then use them, then the cookies will be more textured. It may take a little more or a little less flour, depending on the condition of the dough. Take liquid, natural and high-quality honey. The oil is odorless. If you don't like any spices, then exclude them.
STEP 2

Pour water and oil into a saucepan. Put honey. Heat the mixture over low heat until the honey dissolves. Add ground spices - cinnamon and nutmeg. Put in soda. Continue heating.
STEP 3

With constant stirring, bring the mixture until foam appears, but do not bring to a boil. Remove from heat.
STEP 4

Pour the honey mixture into the cereal and mix well. The heat will soften them a little. If you do not have instant cereal, then leave it to stand like this for 10 minutes.
STEP 5

Add most of the flour. Add salt. Stir with a spoon. Gradually adding the remaining flour, knead the dough.
STEP 6

The dough should become quite thick and can be kneaded with your hands. But do not overdo it with flour, the dough should still remain soft.
STEP 7

Cover a baking tray with baking paper or a special mat. Using your hands, form the cookies into balls. Place them on the paper and slightly flatten them on top.
STEP 8

From this quantity of products I got 11 cookies.
STEP 9

Bake cookies in a preheated oven at 180°C for 25 minutes. Remove the finished cookies from the oven and let cool, covering the baking sheet with a towel. Serve it with tea or compote. Bon appetit!
