Fish balls in the oven
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to bake fish balls in the oven? Prepare your food. I took a ready-made fish fillet, I have pollock, but it’s better to fillet the fish yourself. Store-bought fillets are very watery and are much more expensive than whole fish. Lard is necessary to soften the mince, but if lard bothers you, replace it with the same amount of butter.
STEP 2
Thaw the fillet first, wash it and squeeze it well to remove excess moisture (if you, like me, have purchased it). Cut it into medium pieces and pass through a meat grinder with a fine grid. Place the minced meat in a bowl.
STEP 3
Next, mince the lard and add it to the bowl with the minced fish. If you took butter, just cut it into small pieces and let it melt a little.
STEP 4
Peel the onions, rinse and cut into pieces. Pass it through a meat grinder after the lard. We chop the onion and expel the remaining lard from the meat grinder. Add the onion to the bowl with the minced meat and lard, mix everything well.
STEP 5
Add 3 tablespoons of breadcrumbs to the minced meat. Under no circumstances should it be a soaked bun or white bread. Fish mixed with onions is already quite a liquid mass, and after adding such bread or rolls, you may not be able to collect the minced meat at all. If you want a bun, just grate it on a coarse grater or grind it in a blender.
STEP 6
Add one egg, salt, pepper to the bowl with minced meat and mix until smooth. Cover the bowl with the minced meat and leave for 30 minutes so that the crackers absorb the liquid and the minced meat becomes dense.
STEP 7
Turn on the oven to preheat to 180 degrees. Place the remaining breadcrumbs on a flat plate. Divide the minced meat into 5 parts, form into balls (small round cutlets) and roll them in breadcrumbs.
STEP 8
Grease a baking dish with vegetable oil and place the meatballs in it.
STEP 9
Pour a little hot water into the mold - to a third of the height of the meatballs. Place it in a hot oven and bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes until done. They should be browned on top. Remove and let stand for 5-10 minutes.
STEP 10
Bon appetit!
