  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make deep-fried Spanish churros? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Take the highest grade wheat flour, butter with at least 73% fat content, filtered or bottled water. The taste of the baked goods will largely depend on the quality of the products used.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Pour water into a saucepan, add salt, butter and powdered sugar. Powder can be replaced with regular sugar or a sweetener that is not susceptible to heat treatment. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the contents to a boil, stirring constantly. The butter should be completely dissolved.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Sift the flour into a suitable sized bowl to enrich it with oxygen. Thanks to this, the products will be more fluffy and airy. Flour differs in its properties, so just in case, sift a little more of it than indicated. The quantity may need to be changed. You will be guided by the desired rather thick consistency.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Make a hole in the center of the sifted flour. Pour the boiling oil mixture into it. Mix everything thoroughly and quickly with a spoon or silicone spatula. It is important that the flour is completely mixed with the butter and there are no flour lumps. Continue stirring until the dough begins to come together. If necessary, add a little flour. The dough should be smooth and soft.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

In a separate container, combine eggs with dark rum. I took one large egg and one yolk. Instead of rum, you can use aromatic cognac. Stir the mixture with a whisk. Pour it into the dough and mix everything until completely homogeneous.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Place the dough into a pastry bag (or syringe). Take a star attachment or a regular round one. If you don't have a piping bag, use a heavy duty plastic food bag. Fill it with dough. Trim a small corner.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Pour vegetable oil with a high smoking point into a deep saucepan with a thick bottom. Do not add to the edges of the dish (2-3 cm), otherwise hot splashes will fly in all directions. Heat oil over medium heat. How do you know if the fryer is hot enough? Place a wooden spatula into the hot oil. If bubbles gather around, it's ready. Press the dough into strips or horseshoe shapes into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Remove the finished dessert with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil. When the treat has cooled, generously sprinkle it with powdered sugar through a fine strainer. Instead of powdered sugar, you can mix sugar (about 50 g) and ground cinnamon (1-2 teaspoons) in a plate. Roll the finished churros while still hot in this mixture, place on a dish and allow time to cool completely. Help yourself!

I was attracted by the name of the recipe - deep-fried Spanish churros. I really wanted to cook it. The dough is easy to knead and quite quick. Instead of rum I added cognac. I don’t have a special pastry bag, so I decided to use a regular plastic bag for depositing the churros into the deep fryer. I made two things, and it turned out somehow sloppy, and in principle it’s not very convenient with the bag. Therefore, in the future I simply put a teaspoon of the dough into the oil. It turned out simply incredibly tasty. The churros are really crispy on the outside and very tender on the inside. In some ways they resemble profiteroles. Everyone in my family liked this dessert. Thank you very much for the recipe!

Churros are wonderful fried donuts made from choux pastry; the whole world prepares such dough in the oven, but if you deep-fry it, you can get such a Spanish-Portuguese delight! They look beautiful, and if you dip the finished products in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon, and then dip them in melted chocolate and wash them down with a cup of hot coffee, you can get magic outside of Hogwarts. Crispy on the outside and super tender on the inside, kids will gobble them up in no time. I first saw churros in a travel show and thought that this dessert was probably difficult to prepare, and then I didn’t even imagine that I would someday fry them in my kitchen.

Churros in Spanish look wonderful! By the way, they look like regular baked cookies. If it weren’t for the photos of the stages, I would have thought that it was somehow magically baked in this form.
