  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make fish salad from canned food? Prepare the necessary ingredients. In addition to these ingredients, you can add onions in one layer. To do this, you need to finely chop a small onion and marinate in 1 tbsp. l. apple cider vinegar for 15 minutes. Then drain the vinegar.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash the carrots and potatoes with a brush without peeling them. Place the vegetables in boiling water and cook until tender. Then cool and peel.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Grate the potatoes on a medium grater.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Also grate the carrots on a medium grater. You can grate it on a coarse one, but the finer all the ingredients are grated, the more tender the salad will be.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Boil the eggs hard, cool and peel. Separate the whites from the yolks. Grate the whites on a medium grater, and grate the yolks into a separate bowl on a fine grater. Set aside a little grated yolk to decorate the salad.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Remove the fish from the jar, shake off the liquid and mash with a fork. If you come across too large bones, remove them. I like it when there is a lot of fish in the salad, so I took 2 cans of canned food instead of one.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Grate the cheese on a medium grater.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Wash the greens, dry and finely chop.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

To make it more convenient to apply mayonnaise on layers, I put it in a pastry bag and cut off the tip. You can make mayonnaise yourself, so the salad will be tastier and healthier. Below the steps you will find a link to a catalog of homemade mayonnaise recipes.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Place a cooking ring (Ø 18-20 cm) on the dish. Place all the potatoes in the first layer and distribute evenly over the entire diameter of the ring. Pour mayonnaise from a piping bag. If desired, you can lightly salt the layers of potatoes and carrots, but I usually do not add salt to salads with mayonnaise.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Place grated carrots in the next layer and also pour in mayonnaise. If you are going to add pickled onions to the salad, place them in the next layer after the carrots.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Place a layer of cheese on the carrots. Make a mesh of mayonnaise on top.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Next, spread the sardine, sprinkle it with chopped herbs and pour mayonnaise on top.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

Sprinkle with grated yolk and lightly pour mayonnaise over it.

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

Place the grated whites in the last layer. Lubricate this layer with mayonnaise and smooth it out well, as this is the last layer.

  16. STEP 16

    STEP 16

Using the reserved grated yolks and small sprigs of dill, form small mimosa sprigs along the outer edge of the salad. Leave the center undecorated.

  17. STEP 17

    STEP 17

Carefully remove the cooking ring. You can serve the salad immediately or let it brew in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours or the whole night. Bon appetit!

Tasty! Fast and easy! But I still didn’t have enough salt in the potatoes. Next time I'll add some salt.

I made a classic mimosa salad with canned fish and potatoes. For the salad I chose sardines in oil. Boiled vegetables in salted water. I boiled the eggs hard and separated them into whites and yolks. I grated all the ingredients into separate bowls. She crushed the canned food with a fork. I chose Dutch hard cheese. I also decided to add onions, which I cut into cubes. I collected the salad in a split ring in layers, spreading it with mayonnaise. Great recipe. It's all very harmonious and tasty. The perfect combination of fish and vegetables. Onions work well here. Cheese adds a special twist. I didn’t press down the layers, so it came out very airy and tender. Incredibly delicious salad. This is one of our favorites. I recommend to everyone! Many thanks to the author 😊

This is genius! very comfortable, cool and overall wow! Now, if anything happens, you don’t need to dig through your paper cookbooks and magazines; you can find what you need in a matter of minutes in an e-book. Many thanks to the creators of such a wonderful site! And this mimosa is truly classic, just like my grandmother made in childhood. It never gets boring, even at the holiday table, even for dinner.

I love this salad, but I just make it a little differently: I put finely grated boiled carrots on the bottom layer, and pre-marinate the finely chopped onions in vinegar. Bon Appetit everyone!

All my adult life I have been making this salad in a slightly different order. First the fish, then the onion, the potato, the white, and then the yolk comes on top. And most importantly, I rub each layer with a fine grater and do not crush it, leave it airy and grease each layer with mayonnaise. But this New Year I will definitely try to do it as written here. Thanks for the recipes and such an interesting site!
