Homemade loaf
This extremely popular bakery product in many countries received its name from the French bâton - staff, stick. This analogy is not accidental. The first loaves looked something like a modern baguette - they were narrow and long. Over time, they increased in volume, became much thicker and acquired the shapes and sizes familiar to us.
In the recipe for the loaf according to GOST of the USSR, premium wheat flour, yeast, water, margarine, salt and sugar were used. It was necessarily made using the sponge method. In addition to the classic sliced loaf, on store shelves you can now see a huge variety of loaves, which have received different names depending on the additives. Most types of loaves are cut, that is, before baking, several oblique cuts are made with a knife on an already shaped loaf.
Homemade loaves are most often baked with water or milk, and not only margarine, but also butter or vegetable oils are used as a fat base. Bread, including a loaf, baked in the oven or bread maker is an excellent alternative to store-bought. You can add raisins, dried apricots, and dried carrots to the loaf dough. Dried herbs (basil, coriander, etc.) and even fried onions will harmoniously fit into unsweetened versions of homemade loaf. You can fantasize endlessly, each time getting more and more new tastes, delighting yourself and your loved ones.
