Croutons in a frying pan
You can cook delicious croutons in a frying pan in literally five minutes or even less. There are many varieties of them: sweet, salty, hot, spicy, creamy. They suit the holiday table as a simple appetizer. And they go well with tea in the mornings and evenings. Whether or not to use oil when preparing these croutons is up to the cook’s choice. If the cookware has a non-stick coating, you can completely dry fry.
However, keep in mind that classic recipes for croutons in a frying pan involve the use of oil, butter or vegetable.
The most common cooking method: frying bread slices in a milk-egg mixture. You can add salt and sugar to it to taste. The bread is first dipped into the mixture until it completely covers it. And then fry in a heated frying pan on both sides. Children love these sandwiches very much.
But you can also please your husband with hot croutons if you make them with sausage, cheese or minced meat. How? Yes, very simple! To do this, add grated products to the same egg mixture (raw egg beaten with a fork). You can simply mash the minced meat. Fresh herbs, chopped garlic, and ground black pepper are also good. When frying, the egg holds all the ingredients together and they don’t fall off the bread. You can add a spoonful of any sauce to the mixture: tomato, soy, sour cream, cream.
Remove excess oil from croutons with a paper towel. If you fry in a dry frying pan, add something juicy to the lezon. Otherwise, you risk getting too dry croutons. Or serve them with prepared sauce.
You can cut the bread into thin long slices, like those used for crackers. Or into regular portioned pieces. If you want it to be beautiful, use curly cutting.
Lately, many people like to fry “non-standard” croutons. For these, the crumb is removed, leaving a “frame” of the crust. And inside the frying pan it is filled with filling. This could be a raw egg or a sausage and cheese mixture. You need to remove such croutons from the pan with a spatula so that the contents do not fall out.
