Beer croutons made from bread with garlic
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make croutons for beer from bread with garlic at home? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. For such croutons, black or rye bread is good, but if you only have wheat bread on hand, then this will do. It is better to use yesterday’s bread or slightly dried bread; if the bread is fresh, then you can keep a few slices in the freezer so that it does not crumble when slicing. Crackers can be dried in the oven or fried in oil in a frying pan.
STEP 2
Cut the bread into thin slices, no more than one centimeter thick, cut off the crusts evenly, because they are denser than the crumb, and such pieces will not dry evenly. Cut the bread crumb into long sticks or cubes, depending on which shape of croutons you prefer.
STEP 3
Peel a few cloves of garlic, cut a couple of them into slices, pass the remaining cloves of garlic through a press or grate on a fine grater.
STEP 4
Pour sunflower or olive oil into a frying pan, place garlic slices on it and heat the oil over medium heat until the garlic slices become transparent and a slight garlic smell appears. Gently remove the garlic pieces with a fork or spatula.
STEP 5
Place the bread pieces into the heated garlic oil. Fry the bread pieces over medium heat, turning them over with a spatula, until golden brown on all sides.
STEP 6
Place chopped garlic in a bowl, add salt, ground black pepper, paprika to taste, pour in a little olive oil, stir.
STEP 7
Place the prepared garlic mixture in a frying pan with croutons, stir quickly, let the croutons absorb the garlic sauce, dry them in the pan for a couple more minutes and remove from the frying pan so that the chopped garlic does not have time to start burning and does not spoil the taste of the croutons with bitterness.
STEP 8
Place garlic croutons for beer from black bread in a frying pan in the shape of a well or simply serve on a plate to the table. With this drying method, the crackers are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a rich garlic flavor. If you want the crackers to be hard and dry in taste, then they should be dried in the oven. Bon appetit!
